In this video, we go over the Lost Spire of Netheril, a missing piece of a much grander city that floated above long ago. In this spire we come across clones, ghosts, and a basilisk oh my.

So I have the players headed here based upon a tip that they received from Vaelish Gant when they visited him at Revel's End. If they activate the rune chamber it will act as it normally should, but right after that a portal to Blutspur (as represented in Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft) will open and suck the characters into it. I'm going to have them deal with some heavy Lovecraftean shit before the realm spits them out somewhere on the tundra. It is Halloween time, after all!

i think this is a must visit just because there is little else to link the various campaign chapters. gonna have the gnomes from the black cabin quest drop the hook for his or have them get the hook from the seance in easthaven. that gladitor guy is gonna get shredded in my campaign he might be a famous big game hunter down south but he's gonna get wrecked showing off in icewind dale

The basilisk doesn't make any sense to me.... will be replacing that with something that has tunnelled in from the ice. Nice video, thanks 😀 - Also, you say that Dzaan's spellbook is burned.... but that's not so ... it's in the Easthaven town library. I had the group given the spell book for services to the town.

Good video, but the Thoross Language here is gritting, and it's a shame WotC has disregarded what Thomas Costa did in his Speaking in Tongues article (Dragon Annual 1999) - From this description: Loross is one of the two languages spoken in Netheril. Loross was the 'High' language spoken in the flying cities, while Netherese was spoken on the ground. These two are very close and are more like dialects than anything else. These are written in Draconic, but the spoken language is not elven. Netherese was one of the languages that come from the Ulou languages, and anyone who speaks that (people from Damaran, Vaasa, the Vast, Narfell, Thesk, the Moonsea, the Great Dale, Impiltur) would know a fair bit (20-30%) of the words spoken. There are 2 groups who still speak Netherese, and that is people from Halruaa and Shade. There is also a chance that if you come from Anauroch, you might have picked it up as it was the official language of the land for around 100 years before the empire of Shade fell. Also, anyone who speaks Ruathlek, a secret language of Illusionists, would understand Loross. It's also worth noting that a lot of command words for magical spells and items use Loross as their command so a wizard or bard would recognize some words from this. Think of Loross like Latin in modern-day, a french person could understand words and sayings (anyone who speaks a Ulon language) but for most people it would just sound like magic words. However, most people have heard some magic words and know what that was.

Very informative! I understand why wotc simplified it for this module, but that is an awesome addition to this campaign!

It may be too high of a CR, but perhaps the Red Yeti is just an Abominable Yeti who has killed so much it's red? That could be a cool challenge and make it different enough from average yeti's.

My players searched the town hall of east haven, more specifically their doppelganger rogue. She had to hide from the lady in white and searched the building finding papers with a warrant for him and arrest report. The warrant mentioned his actions and showed the speaker was watching him as soon as he entered the town.

Tomorrow I'm running the Spire (hopefully). They "talked" with Dzaan while he was burning via the Psi Crystal. He prompted them to find his spellbook and bring it to "his legacy" (as he said). They got the Spellbook as payment for the Toil and Trouble quest. Within it they found a Spell Scroll of Fireball (the RAW reward for the quest) and some notes pointing the location of the Spire. My changes for the Spire are simple: The encounters. My PCs are pretty stacked so I'll be running: - 2 Basilisks instead of one (good call saying that Dzaan might tell Krintass to fight alongside and the Mirror thing). - An Allip instead of a Will O Wisp (Toil and Trouble W-o-W was an afterthought). - 3 Cult Leaders and 9 Cultists as the "exiting" encounter. They were sent by the Black Sword (Avarice) to check for Netherese Ruins. Prompt to them wanting to kill Dzaan. As for Dzaan, I like him better rather than Vellyne as the Arcane Brotherhood NPC, so I might fudge the roll to let him be a real boy. The first illusion will be a temporal real thing and the second onwards, a Black Pudding. The idea of Dzaan turning into a Black Pudding and the PCs turning into a Skill Challenge to repair the Rune Chamber as it happens it's also appealing.

@@NoFunAllowed Update: We didn't the Lost Spire in the end lol We started with "The Cauldron Capers" and the PCs followed the marks onto Targos. Using Invisibility (as Naerth closed down the town) the Wizard was able to locate the Cauldron inside the Luskan Arms. Cue to a great plan regarding uses of Invisibility, Alter Self and Misty Step to take away the Cauldron and take off. So, after that, I decide to drop the Chapter 3 hook (as too much time had passed since they knew about the Easthaven Ferry and they ignored it). They decided to ignore the Lost Spire and invest into the main plot. After managing to get someone to tell them where Sunblight is, they parted there and we ended the session as the doors of Sunblight open, they enter and the first batch of Duergars appears and attacks. Sorry Dzaan. You will have to wait for a little while to be a real boy. I guess that my plan will be to run Chapters 3 and 4 and, in the aftermath, if they still decide to ignore the Lost Spire, I'll have Tali (from Bremen, I run them as an alchemist) tell them to fetch some dragon scales from the Dark Duchess, where they will find Professor Skant.

Milbor is the one who tells the players about the red yeti, bets the players that he can find it and kill it before them... then turns up quickly with proof he's done it ... or perhaps there never was a red yeti?
