RimWorld Anomaly played on the hardest difficulty, without Killboxes, and with pause disabled.
This is Adam's first full run of Anomaly and is meant to be an exploratory run. This run will be partially min-max, but Adam doesn't want to go 'overkill' and just gun everything down with 30 pawns. Expect to explore new items, structures, entities, events and more.
From the Golden Cube to Obelisks, Ghouls and everything inbetween, let's test out all the things!

*No Pause - I am using a mod that disables pause in every portion of the game. This means it is impossible for me to pause with a key press and the game will not pause during events or trade, making things much more difficult.
** Losing is Fun set to +500% is the hardest difficulty in unmodded RimWorld

Man the new combat music really made that obelisk encounter SO good. The right-off-the-bat intensity when the map got converted and overrun then the constant pressure of the track as the fight went on.. followed by the more lull but ominous track to match the anxiety of worrying about followup attacks while repairing the base.

You got alot patience considering chat. Of corse you note the conditions of a rimworld run, it only way anyone know the diffrance of most rimworld runs. Also almost no one watch a run that dies super fast before you get off the ground, after which you got alot more leeway to recover. Seems mostly be people who are less experienced in rimworld ether being bitter your better at rimworld, or confused since they got less experience. With the thousands hours you spent, course your gonna get good, especially since you always challange yourself.

Just noticed a big advantage of playing with 500% difficulty as a content creator is that you moved rather quickly into the higher difficulty content. Felt like between the obelisk progression and the anomaly attacks, it was a constant flow of events and content

What's the lore on GHOULBABY? Baby born from a ghoul or just with ghoul as parent relation? EDIT: OK, ghoul ovum in incubator

Would have NEVER guessed that, my goodness. I guessed underground conduits had something to do with it, but I didn't share that because I didn't want to add to the useless advice, and I figured it would be fixed by the time I had watched the vod.

I knew it! Well, I didn't know it was the obelisk, but I knew it had nothing to do with what he was looking at. Pawns usually get stuck where they were standing when they decided to go someplace, not where they were going, so whatever it was wasn't in those rooms. I wanted him to forbid all the doors and see that he was still standing when outside, or working correctly inside, which would mean nothing inside was the problem. I didn't guess it was the obelisk that was the problem. Last I remember of that thing was the first stream.

When I got stuck in a similar situation in a "z-level" type map closing on me, I just had to punch the pawn down and force someone to carry them, was the only way. Granted, it was also with far fewer pawns, so I couldn't afford to lose one, and I don't know if I could have pulled it off on no-pause, but you probably could in the future. Awesome run so far!

The game can show detailed task / pathing info, the dev probalby just turned those on and immediately saw what those pawns were stuck doing. It's not logged as an _error,_ so it won't appear in the error log by default, it needs to be enabled separately.

I bet death refusal is the reason why downed colonists pick up their weapons when they get up in 1.5, not just intended as random quality of life change. Now if they'd just make it so that medicine, drugs, and meals stay in pockets when downed instead of spilling everywhere, blocking doors, that would be nice. Medicine dropping can benefit field tending, but maybe they could let it be used directly from the _patient's_ inventory.

Awesome lore selection for this expansion. It feels similar to the horrors of the Shrike. Folks should read the first and second Hyperion books (at least) if you haven't.

For the record. The coolers were originally done just to test if the Devs had removed the exploit. Then it remained to keep the cube unbroken.

There are still 11 episodes in the playlist after this one, so my reaction here is obviously a month behind. :D It's interesting to see how within the first 5-20 hours of play on this DLC, experiences can differ so much. Ambiguous Amphibian loved the hellcat rifle b/c it was an easy way to hit and reveal the revenant in its hidden state. One revenant hynotized a bunch of his colonists in a row while he was still struggling to research revenant detection. Plus the hellcat and incinerator were both great for torching the flesh caves, which Adam hasn't entered/discovered yet (as of 2 hrs into this VOD). Adam OTOH just invisibly sidestepped that entire gameplay segment by having a random quest immediately gift him a captive revenant, and he hasn't seen a wild revenant since then, as far as I was paying attention in the past 20 hours. I feel like that reflects how many variables there are in this DLC, so that their interactions lead to significantly divergent experiences and impressions. I fell off Rimworld after Biotech. That was when vehicles as a mod weren't a thing yet. Now that, Anomaly, and other things are making me feel like getting back into RW for the big 4000 hour milestone. :D

I think it's really interesting that any clone who rolls duplication sickness applies it to all the clones of that pawn. It makes it a gamble to try to push past the first clone.

Likely an unforeseen result of having more than two. It's possible it will get patched, but maybe they'll decide that is how they want it to work, as a downside for making multiple copies of pawns. Not surprising to see it within the first few days of release, while all the odd behaviors are being found, like extracting an ovum from a ghoul.

I had a similar issue with pawns trying to work from an inaccessible spot, when I put an animal sleeping spot in a corner across from an unrevealed hole (the shape of adjacent rock walls show you the hole). I didn't get pawns stuck, though, I just lost one of the dozen sick chickens from not tending. I didn't realize you had the same bug, but I figured it was something about a job somewhere else they couldn't perform for some reason.

KEKW punished for leaving the blocks in the wall. They have bothered me ever since they first appeared on screen :D I would have fixed that mid raid and wouldn't have cared if I died for it^^

I don't think fire would work on the flesh heart anomaly even if the rain was removed. The flesh walls were deleting the material they spawned over and it seemed to burn in a way that the fire wouldn't spread. One of the flesh walls caught fire and it destroyed a large enough chunk that other flesh would have been outside of the burn radius. You can see exactly what i am talking about at 4:54:12 to 4:54:22.

2:29:45 - I don't think it is. The tentacle replaces one of the arms (at least according to the event text). The whip is the one that's extra.

2:13:48 - It's not a exactly typo, because those texts are supposed to alter the pronouns automatically. My guess is the "he" was included as plaintext instead of a tag like %heshe%, so it's not getting replaced to match the character.

Well, it looked like pathing issue and I noticed the empty space next to obelisk so it could cause problems... but I'm also a dev :) (not Rimworld) I was very curious how Adam was troubleshooting it :)

At 1:11:20, if you went after the hostile clone of Lady Serperior less violently, could you have imprisoned and converted her or is she unwaveringly loyal? If the hostile clone comes without the organ decay or body double thing, that's a good pawn to capture.

yeah I understand the dev gave a solution but at what point did it actually start breaking dark research because that wall had been like that ever since you built the wall around the obelisk.

When a piece of the wall got destroyed during a raid. So now there was a empty but inaccessible space between the wall and the obelisk the pawns were trying to get to

Either when that wall piece got destroyed or when he added that tile to the allowed area. If it wasn't part of the allowed area they would have picked one of the top tiles to use the obelisk instead.

For people asking which expansion(s) they should buy or enable first, here's a quick description of what each of them adds: 1. Royalty basically adds magic and feudal "ranks" that let you call for help. Only your pawns can cast magic and call for aid, so this tends to make the game significantly easier. If you want a kind of medieval "fantasy themed" run, get this one. 2. Ideology essentially adds religions (and some new buildings). These can be used to make each run slightly different or just exploited to turn previously negative things into positives and make things (a lot) easier. They apply to other factions as well (but other factions aren't really simulated in detail, so that's not very relevant, except to the extent that it affects visitors to your colonies). 3. Biotech adds player-controlled mechs, different races, genetic engineering, babies and vampires. I'd say this is by far the expansion that better fits the original (sci-fi) theme of the game (although you might still want to pair it with Ideology to have access to the "transhumanist" buildings). 4. Anomaly adds more enemy types, more "weird" events affecting your pawns, and a new research tree that includes some spell-like abilities. The initial appeal seems to rely a lot on surprises, and I suspect it'll lose some value once you know what to expect, but it still makes combat more varied and creates new challenges in terms of base design. Personally, I'd start with Biotech and Ideology. Royalty doesn't really fit the game's original sci-fi / crash-landed-on-a-remote-planet vibe, and Anomaly will probably be a bit confusing to players still learning the game's basic mechanics.

Honestly man, the videos are great and it's fun to watch you play, but the biggest annoyance watching you is that you harp on and on about things. You hold onto what people say way too much. Like you'll bring the same comment up like 5 or 6 times in the same video. Then a lot of the time you'll act like it doesn't bother you, but it clearly does because you keep going. Just let the stupid comments go and ignore them man. Like WE GET IT. We know you don't ALWAYS make a box base, or always use assault rifles. As you've said a thousand times, people that don't know that clearly don't watch much of your content. Those of us that DO watch a lot obviously know this, and it's frustrating to hear you go on about it over and over. One exception I'd say though, is insisting that people should play the way they enjoy, because this is obviously a great outlook on a video game, which is supposed to be fun, obviously. Otherwise though, just stop giving credence to the stupid people man.
