A full RimWorld Ideology 1.3 playthrough in which we try to get to the newly added ending. This is played on the hardest difficulty, Losing is Fun, bumped up to 500%, against Randy Random and not using pause or mods (aside from the mod that makes it so I can't pause etc).

This playthrough was recorded LIVE on Twitch. As such, Adam is speaking with chat throughout. Videos without chat will be listed as 'KZfaq Exclusive'. This is the ENTIRE playthrough, so there will be some episodes in which not much happens, that's just the nature of unedited RimWorld.
*No Pause - Adam is using a mod that disables pause in every portion of the game. This means it is impossible for him to pause with a key press and the game will not pause during events or trade, making things much more difficult.
** Losing is Fun set to +500% is the hardest difficulty in unmodded RimWorld
***Randy is a Rimworld storyteller who is super RNG. Sometimes he is super easy, and other times he is the hardest thing in the game.
**** Lost Tribe is a scenario in which you begin with 5 tribals, some supplies, and 3 random pets. This scenario has very slow research by default.

I´m in the beginning of the video, but I just wanna thank you for breaking it in to chapters and tell others who may be not in the mood for a 4h video that without pause you don´t get the slow pace chit chatty stream feeling. With chapters, its way more comfortable to watch in parts. Great content.

Holy shit, I've watched so many episodes of your content and I'm currently doing a playthrough with 1.4 biotech, took the sunlight sensitivity gene and didn't even comprehend that the idea of scheduling them reverse would help, this is why Adam is the RimGOAT, always has a plan for everything! Doing a very similar playthrough, I noticed that even when enemies are in an enclosed corridor under roofs, if its not "indoors" the game seems to always apply an accuracy penalty during the day. this can be fixed by building a door on both sides of the kill hall and leaving it open. Thanks for inspiring a new run!

That's good to know and explains some things from later in this run. I usually like to make my kill box a 'room' anyway in order to get the spacious interior buffs and such while we are killing anyway, guess I'll just have to start doing that even sooner with Darkness runs!

I really enjoy tunnelers with bugs enabled, it adds a lot more difficulty and complexity to the game and how you design your homes in the mountains.. Hopefully we'll see a run like this in the future with bugs enabled.

@@AdamVsEverything Lack of bugs in mountain base is kind of a bummer, I was hoping to learn a trick or two to deal with bugs, but I do understand that in what may be REALLY long, increasingly difficult, 3-4 consecutive playthroughs, you can't afford to have bugs randomly pop up in your infirmary after barely surviving a raid. I still hope to see how breaches will try to tackle a mountain base in your run before they try to breach mine.

finally came back to finish the video (and the series) and that meal plan of using the meat first is actually giga brain. Ty for that tip, next time I start a new colony I will take that into consideration. Also, I will check out the melee only run... since ideology ive almost exclusively had the "ranged nobel" put onto every run, because guns are fun. (even if not being able to equip zeushammers to deal with centipedes is a tradeoff)

I've been messing about with tunnelers myself. Man the Tunneller mushroom boon + the one that makes bug meat loved and cooked into fine+ meals is insane. +3 for mushrooms, +6 for bug meat and the normal bonus for "ate fine meal" means you end up with a +14 just from fine meals. It would get even stronger with the better meals. Such a strong combo for mood if you have bugs enabled.

Tunnelers seem super good in general. If you have not tried the darkness meme with them yet, definitely give it a try. The accuracy gets ludacris during this playthrough.

How many RimWorld years has Adam played through? If he finished one year every four hours of gameplay that would be some 1000 years of RimWorlding. I also wonder what cumulative colonist-years looks like, that would be like (20 years)*(~60 colonists) = 1200 colonist-years from the 20 year playthrough alone. At the average wage of $41,660 in Indiana, he'd also owe $50 million in backpay just for that playthrough (not including overtime! or death gratuity payments to dead colonist's next of kin).

It is somewhat funny how we're over 3 years in to 1.0+ and 5 total for the game and Blight priority is like "meh, idgaf" for pawns, when it's one of the most time sensitive events in the game.

Interesting playthrough as always. Note that you can load your pack animals by beginning a caravan right before accepting the "move" quest. On the other hand you need to do that cautiously as it raises the wealth of the new colony and Randy does not like that at all... learned that from experience.

I did almost the same build my first Ideology run, but reversed the weapon types and focused on melee. Both because it felt right to have what amounted to dwarves using hammers instead of guns, and because I figured ranged weapons would be so inaccurate that they would be worthless in my dark tunnels, so melee would give me the advantage. I also wanted to focus on weapons that are apparently better against Infestations and killing bugs. Looking forward to seeing how this run went!

yeah it is pretty crazy. A small patch this past week added the text to the quest which explains research will reset as well, at least.

Not sure if you were aware, but you can plant Nutrifungus in soil as well. So enclosing and roofing over normal or rich soil grows slightly faster than if you limit yourself to fungal gravel, as it only has a fertility of 70%. It is relatively minor - rich soil grows at 106%, normal at 100%, and stony soil/fungal gravel is 96%. Can let you get that mood swing a bit earlier. Don't even have to completely enclose if you build enough roof to block spillover light, which for Darkness meme colonies is actually a benefit.

We tested that a little bit last week, but the slow growing wasn't worth the +mood for me at this stage with the initial optimism buff + low expectations etc. It's too bad they only have 15% fertility sensitivity or else roofing that patch of rich soil would be awesome! - Thanks for watching/commenting!

Just started watching this and thought i would add. If you have the simple sidearms mod you can have your pawns keep an melee weapon in their inventory in case they get over run at no penalty because they dont actually equip it untill you tell them to. I know its op but i love simple sidearms. No one actually went to war with a bow and arrow and didnt have at least a knife or hatchet as back up. You can also do the same trick if you use prefer short range weapons, keep an assault rifle or charge rifle as a sidearm.

Yep, it is a good mod for sure. I used to use it back before I started doing these 'no mods' runs. The first time I ever used it, though, I didn't think about enemies also having sidearms. I melee rushed someone and they pulled out a really good melee weapon and downed my pawn. Turns out they were stronger in melee than at range, lol.

Yes! I really wanted an ideology run from Adam. Bit disappointed he disabled infestations, for the first time I want to build a mountain base and I was curious to see him deal with them (without low temperature). Probably on a previous run?

Honestly infestations are incredibly easy to beat just by three melee blockers at a one wide doorway and 6-12 paws with guns and grenades behind them. Francis John has a very good tutorial on it. Plus berserk doesnt fade off of insects and animals until they are dead/downed so it can be very op.

I did one of these runs (partial) last weekend with bugs enabled and it wasn't very hard to kill them using the 3 melee block + smgs or +1 grenade. We had a tough pawn hold a doorway and 5 others were able to kill something like 47 bugs (and that was relatively early game). The main annoyance is just having to rebuild all the crap they break down and destroy in the meantime. I figured since this was already going to be a crazy long run with lots of things going on I'd just save us all from that bit. I hope you still like the run, and, don't worry, I'll do a 'real mountain base' playthrough sometime after we've done one of these new ending ones!

The only downside to what new meta said are breaches, as soon as a single wall is destroyed, even if your pawns are in darkness, the entire area will no longer give the buff. Not sure if a bug or intended, but it can kill you if you don't know it works that way.

Quick Sleeper is such finicky trait for me, at least until I can get a Circadian Assistant for them. Their schedule just gets all wonky and their moods are all over from being so exhausted at the end of the day.

Yeah, it can be slightly annoying at times. Luckily my biphasic schedule just doesn't care about sleep schedules for quick sleeper, nightowl, etc! I still need to get a video set up specifically about it, though.

I did this ending as my first ever end of rimworld, I assumed that it would unlock dev mode/creative on the save because the text talks about changing reality/being gods etc etc I was wrong, but the end scrawl does say I was kind of right… regardless, selling off my stuff so late for my first colony of the three was painful, had 2 relics, only take 1, only 5 people oit of my favourites, just F, even lost all the research, idk how me bringing my scientist let me forget electronics but ok… It was fun to finally end the game

I noticed that when you rerolled pawns in the beginning all your pawns were around 30 years old, how did you do that? When I reroll pawns, I often get pretty old pawns like 70 or 80 years old

How do you play this game without RimHud? It's such a quality of life mod. Also, for the new ending, is it a new faction the three times? Can you trade with them?

Each one is a new faction, and, as part of the quest, you have to also ally them. Once the colony is taken by them it becomes that faction's colony. You can then trade with that settlement etc. I haven't tried attacking the settlement to see if it looks like the old base, though, but I am guessing ir probably doesn't, unfortunately.

I basically don't use mods anymore. In this run I am using a mod that disables pausing (even in menus/trade/etc), one that shows both Celsius and Fahrenheit, and P-Music (which adds more soundtracks).

@@everythingeverything6505 It started because I wanted some 'no mods' runs up on KZfaq for those newer to the game or those wanting to see what the base gameplay is like etc. I got used to it faster than I thought I would so just stuck with it. I'll probably do some more modded runs again at some point, though!

you can change darkness into Proselytizer cause you can still add combat in darkness without the darklight precept cause some things in the game tend to produce some light near them and id rather have a good pawn religious conversion such a long run like this and having abhorrent apostasy allows you to keep your own colonist from converting to other religions a lot easier especially when their opinion level sucks with just anyone without the same religion allowing you to also avoid outside relationships from developing... not sure if the apostasy opinion malus is permanent when you convert others to your own but you can still manage that by doing things that are approved or required in your ideology

They get super needy. Eventually they all need their own sleep enhancer, neural supercharger, and biosculpter to stay happy. Each of those takes a ton of components and a crapload of energy. They are pretty cool, but definitely crazy needy.

I agree with adam. Pawns need to be essentially put in cryosleep for a 4 day stretch to do an age reversal. It is pretty lame to have to tie up colonist for so long. I love using bionics, but I don’t think I will be using transhumanist, even though it would normally be my preferred play style.

@@thisguy2085 It's crazy to me that the age reversal has no threshold either. Why is my 17 year old pawn getting extremely upset and needs age reversal immediately? lol. I think maybe they should make it not start until 30's and then slowly increase in need the older they get or something, not sure on the ages but you get the idea.

There are lots of different reasons, but the biggest is so they don't go to dangerous or potentially dangerous areas. For instance, if there is a mech cluster or turrets out somewhere, you can make sure your colonists do not wander out there to haul something and get killed.

This looks like it's gonna be great. looking forward to a long series that isn't already finished (or is it?). The new end game sounds more like a new beginning. This is the first I've heard about how it works. Really looking forward to it as the early game is my favorite, although not so much "selling off colonists." Word of Joy comas are never not funny. You can't tame bugs that have a hive, only ones whose hive has been destroyed, so it's not really a viable strategy.

@@AdamVsEverything If you destroy the hives the insects will become homeless and neutral. Pawns still autofire on them, though. I suppose in some edge cases you use the homeless ones as raider bait.

Doesn't "Postpone" on that transport pod crash just make the letter not go away in the interface. Therefore it does not need fixing? I don't think it is supposed to postpone the event from happening, just postpone making the decision while still having the letter to remind you.

Right, the bug is that the Abasia pawn, even when postponed, is already laying on the map. So you can go and check it's stats before you make your decision. You can even kill them while they are still laying there with no repercussion (even the -3 you would normally get for denying them).

They shouldn't leave an allowance zone for any reason unless they are having a break down or are drafted. I posted it to the developers and they seemed to agree it was a bug and was trying to figure out what exactly caused it. I'll be sure to mention that it might have been the heat wave! Thanks!

If raiders get all the way back there and their temporary cover makes us lose, we had much bigger problems. :P I do like putting the occasional trap in those areas just in case, though.
