Tynan tweeted its published already (on 7/23/21): Hey all, another quick update before the weekend. I've just released version 1.3.3069b to everyone. This is the same as 1.3.3069 from earlier today, with the addition of a feature that lets you save and load ideoligions within the ideoligion customization screen. If you have a complicated ideoligion you want to use from now on, you can save it during creation and load it in future games. You should be able to get the update by restarting Steam. 3:36 Makes me wonder why there isn't something like Tech Advancement in the base game? I mean, it would make sense that your tribal society would advance in eras once they find out how to build a generator or produce electricity in general.

there was meant to be but it never worked properly. so there was a mod.

The slowed research was put in for the sole reason of slowing down research. Basically a bunch of people wanted that. This was way before you could just adjust the research speed via the scenario system.

Yea. Advancing from the stone age to industrial era took few years on a village scale the last I checked my sociology books, oh wait, didn't happen if the village social structure didn't change in a fundamental way like invaders offing the heads of the previous residents and replacing them.

@@brianb.6356 Well, they do not need to invent it as a non existing thing, they just need to realize how to do it. But yes, a more involved research would be interesting, like you need to have some stuff to reverse engineer it, and more stuff means faster research, but inventing from scratch would be almost impossible, like game length project for any single research item on its own.

You should definitely do occasional videos like that, they definitely help grow your channel, and if it's something you enjoy then it'll be good content, and that's a win.

Yeah but what gamer DOESN'T take that long on character creation? Especially when there's a bunch of new stuff to go through? And don't say it wasn't character creation! the colony is your character. The pawns, the ideology, the starting location, are all important, impactful parts of the colony you're designing.

The way you described the hierarchy... I thought that your colony would grow plants to feed animals. Then butcher animals to feed slaves, and the main colonists the butcher and eat slaves...

In the future, Quill, you can stop pawns from eating raw meat by forbidding the stack they’re currently targeting; it will cause them to switch tasks. That’s for if they aren’t starving, though, because if they are then the second you un-forbid it they’ll switch back to trying to eat. BUT you can solve that issue by just drafting everybody except for the cook - then they CANT try and eat it, and once the cook actually starts cooking you can undraft everyone again.

I have a Rimworld game where I bred cats and never slaughtered them. What happens is your game starts stuttering from too many entities on the screen. Eventually you convince yourself you are a "shelter" and start selling the cats. Edit: Yes, you will have drunk cats. One of mine was hooched up to the point of cirrhosis. Ever done a liver transplant on a cat? It's not pretty.

Doggo do as well but most times the pregnant doggo only pops out one in the game. Haven't seen cats do the same thing in the game yet so idk if they do have multiples in this game or not. Reality and games don't always coincide

i use a mod that jsut keeps them from infesting from overhead mountain but doesn't remove them if they spawn on the map

am i the only one that likes bug infestations? They suck if you want cave dwellers yeah but any other form theyre so easy to specifically set up an area they will infest that allows dealing with them stupidly easy and insect jelly is worth a ton of money, also lots of meat for kibble and/or chemfuel.

The 'digger' trait cancels the 'ate insect meat' debuff, so cave dwellers are very viable now. I agree that bug infestations are annoying tho, mainly for their high speed & armour (tho they're vulnerable to blunt weps, same as mechs)

I'm curious about how you do the bedrooms with the shared rooms and shared beds when people have multiple spouses? I have seen some people choose multi-spouse but I don't think anyone I've watched has had it happen yet. Does anyone know?

Pretty late, but better late than never. I tried this with full polyamory, and as of the time I tried it, maybe a month or two after Quill's streams, the game doesn't support it well. You have to manually assign someone to share a bed with their other partners, one at a time, and the abandoned partners always get the "I want to sleep with [person]" thought. And it stacks if they have multiple partners :( Methinks the game could benefit from a compersion mod that handles polyamory better. It's clear that the developers only implemented it in terms of basic, superficial mechanics instead of actually modelling how real humans practice polyamory.

At the start of the actual gameplay, i heard a strange sound and it took me a minute or two to realize, it is just the chopping of trees ingame. why it was strange? In my run randomized a treehugger colony, so chopping tree is a big no (-5 mood per tree or something like that), so i did not heard the chopping sound for the past 5+ hours in this game...

Oh man. I don't know how people can play the tribal starts with more than a few pawns. They always run out of food. If I try it I have 3 or 4 mods just to keep food preserved.

rice can be stored for quite some time, cooked food goes for 4 days indoor, so you just set 2xcolonist the goal, and they eat almost all before it rots. Or even just go full berry, they good for medium time, and they are happy to eat it raw.

I hate to say it, but I think I'm fail-watching. And does the Twitch audience also suck at this game? I mean, I like Quill, but he's soooo ignorant of RW mechanics. Chooses "ranching" with no good animal handlers; surprised to find he's struggling to get meat. Cats zoned outside for no reason and get hunted by a warg and THEN a bear right outside the door (like literally every single game of Rimworld ever); Quill is shocked both times. Guinea pigs allowed in the house and are eating meals, Quill slaughters them instead of just putting them in a pen (Guinea pigs have valuable fur and are easy to ranch).

ehhh, I love to watch your videos, I rly do. You have this "I'm rly good but i don't rly too hard" vibe about you, that other grand strategy youtubers lack, but when you turn off the bugs it's such a turn off. I just recently finished my first run in Riwmworld ironman after 470 hours in the game and insects are one of the biggest chellenge late game. Turning them off seems like making the game so much easier to play.
