As a teenage Latina that recently moved to the Netherlands, I get sometimes asked these questions. The kids from my class didn’t even know that people speaked Spanish in South America.

@@anabrouwer2283 hmmm, I think these are all perfectly valid questions. POC need to take care not to alienate white people. Obviously offensive comments shouldn't be tolerated but ignorance can only be cured by education. Just because you are Latina doesn't mean everyone else should automatically know everything about your culture...I'm pretty sure if you were dropped into an unfamiliar country you may also ask 'stupid' questions or make ignorant assumptions based on stereotypes.

As a Japanese having studied abroad in the UK, lived in Europe for several years as well as in the Middle East and Africa, this conversation is fairly commonly experienced by East Asian women and men staying in the UK or having conversation with British persons, especially when meeting with new people without introduction of your friends. Having lived outside Europe and Japan, I can equally confirm that globally speaking, Europe is the world's major Mecca of racism against Asians - they are the top above all regions in this name, which needs a little bit of sincere reflection of its citizens in the region for their advancement of education, civility and civilisation. Bravo to Rina!

I’m sorry that happened to you, but I can honestly say that as a black woman I experienced something similar in several Asian countries I visited.😅 I get asked if I can twerk, play basketball, rap, thought to be sexually promiscuous… it’s everywhere, not just Europe, although it’s popular right now to dump on white people🤷🏾♀️

@user-wm4wj5fc7u10 ай бұрын
@Blakmagic88 As much as gender equality needs reflection for both men and women particularly in the context of male dominant history, racial equality needs sincere and uncompromising reflection for all the racial groups, in the context of modern colonization history in Africa and Asia under the name of enlightenment and civilisation, as well as anti-immigration history and animosity among different migrant communities in the United States. In this regard, I do not sincerely believe the ongoing discussions are "dumping" anything on people of Caucasian racial origin, while we do not pretentiously and self-defensively ignore the phenomena of racial aggression and mocroaggression based on certain of those historical roots. 🙂 It also goes without mentioning that many Asian Americans are agressed both by Americans with African and Caucasian racial profiles. I would not Caucasians are white because I do not believe their objective colour is white at all.
