The POE injector cam with the Ring Elite so we used it. Needed a switch anyway so went wIth POE as it is only a few dollars more and we can add other devices in future like an ip cam

@@smartshieldinc you didn't need to use the poe injector since you had the poe switch and you would have saved space.

@@sigmiami you are correct but the injector came with the elite and still needed the switch. No harm no foul and didnt need space for anything.

Not that I am aware of from the ring controller.

Get you an lowvoltage guy to consult with... think about cameras, audio, internet, alarm. Get all them wires in the house before the drywall is up. As for the gate with ring operation or any operation, i would have 2 cat 6 cables ran from the house to the gate. Maybe you want a camera out there sooner or later. Run the wires now.

This solution will only cover part of that. But it will allow amazon delivery driver to pop the gate for packages.

Doorbird makes a nice keypad that you can do all of what you want done. The doorbird d2101 (long and skinny keypad)it has two configurable relays and you can have one momentary and one latching relay which makes it easy to hold your gate open from your phone. The camera works really well too, it's a 180 degree field of view so you usually can see your gate and what position it is in depending on how the keypad is installed. Also has geo fencing for auto opening. Also it has a free, user friendly app. The Only issue is you have to have an Ethernet cable from your router to the keypad. I've seen customers use wireless bridges to avoid trenching for an Ethernet cable.

@@21bayha The D2101 has a numeric 0-9 keypad for assigning gate codes?

I just watched a couple reviews on the D2101 and it is designed more as a door station, with no numeric keypad, and apparently sub-par video quality. Wow, I know there all many, many, many homes in the US with gates and gate controllers. Again, this seems like a huge untapped market.

@@markpaquette9787 d2101kv! Sorry I put the wrong model number! The video quality is better than the BFT/aes keypad. The AES praetorian isn't a bad option either.

I know it seems redundant but needed the switch for the network and the VDB came with the injector so i used it. Didnt want ring circling back with unit not working because of not using their injector.

Whats your application? Are you putting it at a gate. If you have power and wifi at the gate, It should work.

The wire goes from the ring controller to the gate controller.
