As much as I like Sean and his sharing on Malaysia’s property view and the differentiation in ideologies “new SG property investors” vs true blue Johorian vs KL forks are. What was said in regards to “can SG HDB owner buy pte property overseas after MOP fulfilled” needs to be fact checked. As of today, no restrictions if you are a SG citizen household. The complications comes in when you wanna make any future upsizing/downsizing to your current gov subsidised housing, that’s when u needa dispose off your pte ppty first and waiting out period, before you can do so. Maybe what Sean was referring to is someone from a Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) household that holds a HDB, in that case is “by right” cannot.

Thank you for your comment as I was also puzzled the same way. Singaporean HDB owners can buy Malaysia residential property for sure so long they have fulfilled their MOP.

In Sabah, i believe Foreigners can buy any title except Native title. None Native Malaysians also can't buy Native titles. Native here means indegenious people.

Hi as far as I know if you own a HDB after 5 years , you can buy in KL

Fair point. But if you are using your CPF to pay for your HDB, don’t forget you will have to put it back into your CPF with accrued interest after you sell your flat.

There’re too many underfunded and poorly qualified property development companies in Malaysia. Singaporean and other foreign buyers are primarily show interest in Malaya, not Sabah or Sarawak despite lower requirements for MM2H visas.

Those who are Singaporean or Malaysian working in Singapore looking for investment property in Malaysia should just forget it. Its not worth it. Sean is right. The depreciation of ringgit in the next 5 to 10 years will wipe out any profits you might have. The rapid islamisation and radical right wing political party taking over the country is another timebomb waiting to happen.
