The bells of the ancient medieval Abbey of Saint Lawrence are located on the outskirts of Milan (Italy), a few kilometres from Linate International Airport. The Gothic bell tower has a concert of five bells, tuned in the scale of E major and cast in 1953 in Valtellina.
The five bells are playing a concert for the midday Angelus, according to the noble traditional sounding technique of the bells ascending and descending, forming precise musical scales. The bell tower had five bells in 1884; the two largest were requisitioned during the Second World War. The bells were reinstated in 1951, but the parish priest did not accept them because they were out of tune, so he sent letters of strong protest to the bellfounder, who refitted them free of charge in 1953. The parish priest personally went to the foundry on 7 August 1953, happy with the excellent result.

The church was built in the early 1200s; from 1267, the church and farmstead were granted to the most powerful religious order in northern Italy, which was suppressed in 1571 by Pope Pius V. The farmstead and restored church passed to the diocese of Milan in 1584, when it was elevated to the status of parish church. During the 17th century, it was restored until the new pipe organ was added. The ancient abbey has a beautiful wooden coffered ceiling made in the 16th century.
