The first church in Soncino (Italy) had a concert of seven bells, which are now located in the courtyard under the bell tower. The four smaller bells were paid for by the state as war damage in 1947, while the original three date back to 1868. At the beginning of 2000, the supporting structure of the bells was unsafe. During the restoration work, the seven bells were lowered from the tower and replaced by a beautiful new concert, sung in F major. The bells were made in 2021 in Innsbruck, Austria, by the famous Grassmayr foundry, which has been in operation since the 15th century and is one of the most famous in the world.

The first church in Soncino was built in the 5th century, when the Goths decided to build a place of worship initially linked to heresy. With the transition to the true faith, the church became a collegiate church at the behest of the pope as early as 828, making it the oldest parish church in Cremona. The church was rebuilt in the 12th century on the model of the basilica of Saint Ambrose in Milan. The Romanesque church was renovated with Gothic and Baroque elements until a severe earthquake made the structure unsafe. The façade was restored to its medieval Gothic appearance in 1890, while the church was completely rebuilt again at the end of the 19th century, becoming a large Byzantine-style temple with a vault painted with a blue starry sky. The structure of the church has three naves, with many original Gothic and Baroque side chapels housing paintings by famous Renaissance artists.
