Alessandra, I suspect you're putting more thought in your commentary than the two show runners put in their script. Their main goal was to not be writers anymore, they wanted to become movie producers. It's not good. ☹ There are not supposed to be any Istari in the second age, they appeared in the third age. Oh and Galadriel never went to Numenor, she never met Sauron, she has a husband, she is probably over 210 cm tall she's not short like Napoleon, the elven rings were created after the men's and dwarves' rings, mithril has nothing to do with the Silmarils, Numenoreans are "high men" all over 190 cm or taller, they don't use horses, there re no hobbits (or harfoots) in the 2nd age... so many things are wrong in the show. I don't think anything can be salvaged now, it's too late.

I'm well aware about all these things 😢 i remain vague about details and disappointment just in case someone wants to approach the books soon 💚🧝🏻‍♀️ i tried to save this show but i fail 💔 they failed US! 😔 Totally agree with you!!!

Those are mere details. The lore could have been destroyed and the show could still have been fun. But the show was slow, boring, nonsensical, the dialogues atrocious, the action scenes laughable, the sense of scale ridiculous, the management of time and distances appalling, the depiction of characters awful... should I go on???

I gave up for this show after hear the cast and the showrunners insulting Tolkien, calling him machist and racist (one of them even hinted a relation with certain German regime from the XX century), or saying that they had wrote 'the novel Tolkien would have want to write'. A note about the wizards (Istari), they were sent to Middle Earth in the third age, none of them were present in the second age so, either they are breaking the lore with an Istar (which they could have done... again) when none should be, or it has only a bleak connection in the way of 'look, a Wizard, now you can remember Gandalf' with 100% no relation with him.

I’m pretty sure Tolkien refused to print in Nazi germany after they questioned whether he had Jewish ancestry to which I believe he replied "I know many fine Jews" and printed elsewhere, apologies for the bad paraphrasing. That being said, I don’t think we can apply our standards of a good person to his day and he likely had many qualities we would find distasteful by contemporary standards. Not to say he was a bad guy, in fact based on his representation of women in his writing he was likely progressive for the time; I just want to make sure you aren’t applying our morals to his time :) I also feel like the addition of the istari in the second age was one of the least awful things they changed (note I said least awful 😂). but apparently the show runners have been sidelined after s1 so hopefully the show will find its feet, I know that’s tough after S1 but I’m an optimistic guy sometimes and very forgiving when it comes to the first season a show 😅

@@SuperstarMcAwesomepants The ones suggesting Tolkien was a terrible person were the cast and the showrunners, not me, xD. I think he was human, so he had good things, and bad things, both for todays and his time standards. I agree that, in regards of broken lore by the showrunners, an Istar in the second age is the lesser sinner of all what they have broke, but I love chatting about lore :D Regarding the future, if they can produce a good show, I will be glad, even if they break some lore (PJ trilogy also breaks some lore and has its failures, and they are kind of fine even so). What I find a pity is the huge opportunity they have lost because of their ignorance, intolerance, arrogance, narrowed vision and almost null writing skills. The show visuals with a good story (prefirably something nearer to Tolkien's) and character development would have been epic for a lot of people.

I agree with your analysis completely. The writers and producer created a show that simply was not consistent with Tolkien's world. I don't believe Tolkien would have written it. That is the real problem.

Jennifer Salke head of Amazon Studios has a legal contract called an 'Inclusion Rider' with an organization named 'Annenberg Inclusion Initiative'. It not only dictates diverse hiring on the production crew and the casting choices but also impacts the content itself; how the characters are to interact based on identity politics categories. She (Salke) is required to make reports on her compliance to this agreement she has signed and is encouraged to consult with the organization while crafting all original content if any question of compliance is encountered. It's well worth reading the Annenberg Inclusion Initiative webpage if you actually want to know why ROP was retconned so horribly as to be unrecognizable as a Tolkien based story.

@@clownofthetimes6727 It's difficult from the outside to say much with confidence, but JJ and his wife have another more dastardly function in this power brokering front that has taken much of Hollywood by storm beyond simple compliance to woke dictates I think. The previous Head of Amazon Studios may have fallen afoul of them.

The show is heresy and Mor"mazon" has equavalently sacked the literary Osgiliath equivalent of Professor Tolkien's lore and story with season one, it is a descration of "history of the elvish speaking tongues..we defined our position in Exsurge Tolkien on our channel...the show is heresy.

Good points in the video. I guess the root problem was they wanted to inject topics and ideology that is not present in Tolkiens works, so they needed to twist the story and characters to insert them. Also they wanted to include popular names and concepts (like harfoots) for marketing purposes. Bottomline: the show is made for the wrong reasons

Bravo and we say u speak true! We called this in Exsurge Tolkien, since 25 March, now its a full apostasy of power, The evidence is clear, and none can deny that "ROP" is not of Tolkien. Our EXSURGE TOLKIEN that makes robustly clear the heresy of the showrunner's mouths and hearts. They probably know nothing of Tolkien's masterpiece, as evident from their interview in the Vanity Fair Article. I find it hilarious that every race of every culture across the globe LOVED his books and yet somehow... the showrunners felt the need to change it and make it "more diverse" and more "equal" so everyone can be represented. Wtf? We all loved it based on the story. No one... and I mean NO ONE... gave a shit about the race or sex of the characters. We cared about how the characters were written. We loved the characters based on who they were as people. Which is why everyone... and again I mean EVERYONE... loved the books. Didn't matter where you come from or what demographic you fit into. There's was something for everyone to grow attached to. This show? Nah... there's nothing in it that I can get invested in.

there is no sense of journey, no epicness. most of the lore is distorted in a way that does not make sense. People teleport from one place of the map to the other in matter of days...they all seem to meet at the right place and time...the three rings never were about saving the elves nore about balancing one another. it simply is not Tolkienian stuff. And by god it's bo-ring! It doesn't even work as fan fiction. Fan fiction would at least be lore accurate. They wanted a Feanor figure but did not have it so they changed Galadriel to make her more Feanor-like. it saddens me...
