Smith HVAC, Your video was spot on but like most disassembly / assembly I do, I have two screws left over. They are longer the all the others. Can you tell me where they go for an RL94?
@SmitHVAC.
@SmitHVAC. 10 ай бұрын
Some of the outer screws around the burner plate are longer than others. Hard to say where yours are from, if they are fine thread machine screws they are off of the gas assembly.

Thanks very much - this video gave me the confidence to get into my Rinnai v65 and solve the problem myself. Having the camera so close to where you're working is an excellent setup - it was easy to see what was going on, and the occasional voice-over comments were exactly what I needed. I'm not sure if you're still responding to comments a year after the video, but for my setup, even though the heat is working again, there's now a fairly significant odor of natural gas whenever the tank is running (not just during initial startup). Could I have missed something putting it back together? Do I need to replace some gasket somewhere?
@whocantexplain
@whocantexplain 2 ай бұрын
Around 2:50 he mentions there’s a gasket you should replace if it falls apart. Im not a technician at all though, but it might be your issue

@@whocantexplain Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and replaced the full rectangular gasket around the burner plate (which was pretty tightly compressed after 7 years), and that seems to have fixed it.

No as long as you didn't pull the flame sensor gasket out you're ok. I like the PT299 gas leak detector. It's cheap and it works great. amzn.to/48EhKYX

@SmitHVAC.

Could be a number of different issues, this is just a common one. Check your intake and exhaust outside, maybe pull your vent apart and check in the intake on top of the tank, make sure your flame sensor and spark ignitor are clean

Did you clean the burner? If the fans dirty, the burners dirty.

It was working fine before cleaning fan, just a loud hum/vibration. Are you suggesting code will trigger after cleaning fan if I didn't clean burner? I mean, what your saying makes sense - there were quite a few wasps and moths in the fan.
@SmitHVAC.
@SmitHVAC. 9 ай бұрын
@@stretched2 cleaning the fan could have dislodged and sent some other debris into the burners. It's definitely the next thing I would check!

So, I took my time and carefully cleaned the burner and cleaned the coils above it. Checked the fan again and sucked anything out of the air assembly to the fan. Put everything together and it still throws code 11. Any ideas? I only disconnected the burner solenoid when I took the fan out - that couldn't possibly be that sensitive, no?

@@SmitHVAC. not entirely sure tbh I’m not a professional I just thought id have a crack at it. Funny solution, the gas wasn’t on at my house. Found out when I went to go cook and had no gas lol. So now I have another problem, my water heater is in my garage and it smells like gas in there now. Did I possibly do something to cause a gas leak? What would cause the smell of gas from the water heater? I didn’t mess with the gas line at all

@@SmitHVAC. update, I’m stubborn and wanted to fix it myself lolll. I found where the screw goes and now it doesn’t smell like gas. Also, the two longer screws I originally commented about were the bottom two for the gas plate? I guess is what it’s called. I placed two of the screws for that big plate at the top for it (the one that holds the gas solenoids). Once I figured out that they don’t belong there I replaced them with the two bigger screws that go there at the bottom and then I missed one of the smaller screws that hold that big plate in. I guess that causes a gas leak since I no longer smell gas
