Great to see these old bouts. Andy Robin was very strong, anyone who witnessed his lifting the JCB wheel and tyre above his head can attest to that. This must be one of the longest bouts I have ever seen him in. Much better make believe than the crazy stuff that goes on nowadays.

.....well what a performance in more ways than one....with a splash of humour thrown in for good measure....a new name to me from the W.O.S. wrestling era, that of R.R.....this is the first i have known of him but then you have revealed other names that have been just so...all in all, worth the viewing time...nice replay on the leg lock submission being a bonus...Thanks for posting....

Remember seeing Andy Robbin wrestle his pet bear. Bear became more of a celebrity than him

Where do you get these bouts from? They’re brilliant! I watched WoS with my mum and dad from about the age of 8 (1972), but there must be loads from before then that I didn’t see.

Is Robins” power lock the same as Marty Jones’ Indian death lock? Also, how do either/both of them differ from a figure four leg lock?

Great to see an Indian deathlock submission used effectively in this match, not a hold I recall as being widely used in British professional wrestling from that era.

Andy was my favourite wrestler, don,t be fooled by his in ring persona. He is a genuine tough guy, before Hercules he had a lumberjack business and was amazing to see him hauling huge logs around.Seen him issue many challenges to lift the tractor wheel, including myself, but rarely did any opponent take him up on the offer.Andy was hugely popular in Scotland and he was pretty much indestructable north of the border.

Andy used it in virtually all his bouts.Could never figure out if it really was painful or if his opponents done a great job of selling the move.Either way it created great excitement in the crowd.

@@cliffordcowie93 Hi Clifford interested in your comment about the lumberjack business. I believe my dad worked for him in this business. George (Marco) McLean. Did you know him?

I fought JohnRaven three times. A really strong guy from Bolton. He worked on the holiday camp circuit for.a while as well as the individual circuit mainly for all star promotions. Nice guy. Andy Robbin really thought he was someone. He lived off the fame of Hercules but you could tell off this bout he wanted to be the boss. He could really hurt if things didn't go his way.

+Martin Pygott Interesting comments as always Martin. I wasn't the biggest fan of Robin, although I know he was very popular and still is with many who watch these uploads. I found the constant references to Hercules the bear a bit irritating and pointless. And his style was odd. You'd expect a guy that fights a bear to at least look tough. Regardless of whether or not he was a legitimate hard nut outside the ring, his in-ring persona was of a simpleton who came to the ring with a teddy bear and pranced about like he was doing a gay heel gimmick, like Street or Barnes. Except that he wasn't. So it was very strange. That's just how I saw it at the time anyway! These days I don't dislike any wrestler from the golden era.

@@arthurpsycho4214 ,would loved to have seen you say that to his face.Andy was wrestling for years ,long before he had Hercules. As I said elsewhere ,don, tablet his in ring persona fool you, hewas a legitamate tough guy.

Andy Robin, not very popular by all accounts with his fellow pros. With his "Indian Death Lock" speciality always struck me as something of a one trick pony .
