I think this what I’ve been looking for - I want to create emulations in ancient temperaments for lute,sitar classical instruments - but the midi format doesn’t allow for the precise fine tuning in cents to reach the perfect pitch - with this software - one could just record the perfect tuning on the string instrument itself and assign it to each key? Thank you!

What if I just have 1 note and I want to be able to play it anywhere on a keyboard? I'm trying to covert the sound of a voice recorded in the kate 80's into a keyboard sound. Not just a 2 second sample. But something I can sustain and play up and down the scale. Any advice?

You are not converting instruments to vocals. You are converting vocals into an instrument!

Is there a way to get the notes placed on to the correct keys in the instrument though. At the moment it starts on F# and the whole scale fits in up to C# because each note is on the next sequential semitone up. Being able to have the notes placed on to the correct note in the instrument would mean that you can then use a keyboard (MIDI) to play a melody with it. Just wondering if that's possible?

I wondered the same. The notes are a major scale, covering an octave, but the musical typing uses semi-tones. Very cool feature!

Yes! You can easily edit the EXS24 instrument plugin to map the notes once you've created the instrument. In fact, you can drag your audio files one at a time into the EXS24 plugin in edit mode but I find that takes much longer. Since I was showing this trick in under 5 min, I thought I'd do it the quickest way. To make changes. Select the Midi track, click the EXS24 plugin in the inspector to open the plugin. Click the Edit button on the EXS24 - you'll find it in the upper right area - look hard it is a busy interface. In the Edit window you will see a keyboard at the bottom showing your mapped notes and columns above showing what you have created so far. You can then select and drag the notes to a new position on a keyboard (drag the small rectangle above the keyboard key to the new position.) Start from the furthest note on the right and move it first. Then the next in line to the left so they don't get in the way. Once they are all in the right position, you need to go to the Pitch column in the edit interface and change the pitch for each note to the actual pitch it should be - and that you moved it to. If you aren't sure which is which, if you select the zone (rectangle) above the keyboard note in the edit interface it will highlight the corresponding note parameters above in the column view. - Hope this helps. Thanks for that. I did actually open up the instrument in the end and saw how to do it plus I changed the lower and higher notes to fill in the chromatic gaps missing in the scale but it would be great if there was some way of automating it because if you used the full 68 samples that are allowed then it would take a little while to do. Fantastic tutorial though so thank you very much!

Is there a trick for inputting an audio note into a mic and have it output as a software instrument live/simultaneously? For example, I sing into a mic, yet the monitors put out a violin sound instead? A MIDI controller with live sound instead of hitting keys / pressing buttons?

you can use flex pitch to get the notes you play and copy that into a violin or sum thing

can someone tell me why when i make it a midi instrument I can not hear the sound. I have tried this same thing from many different videos and everytime i get the midi instrument and play on my keyboard i cannot hear the sound. THANKS
