The reason Splinter became a rat is because the rat briefly touched him, leaving enough of its DNA on Splinter (like what happened to Snakeweed, given he fell into a bunch of weeds before the ooz hit). The reason the turtles turned human-like is because they didn't touch anything before mutating.

Well, they did have splinter touch them when he was human. If you are human touching and animal, you'll have the property of the animal. Can the same be in reverse. animal touching a human? there is another example, but I save them when they come up.

Hell yeah, this is my favorite version of the turtles so I am so looking forward to this series! 3:51 Also just for the record on how the mutagen works. In this version of TMNT, the mutagen mutates you depending on the last thing you touched. The last thing splinter came in contact with was a rat and so that's why he mutated into a giant rat. And the last thing the turtles came in contact with was splinter, so they mutated to become more humanoid.

In the first two seasons Michelangelo: Greg Cipes, Donatello: Rob Paulsen, Raph: Sean Astin and Leonardo: Jason Biggs, Splinter: Hoon Lee and Shredder: Kevin Michael Richardson How mutation works is you mutate into the creatute you touch. Splinter was bitten by a rat so he mutated into a rat and the turtles just mutated into larger versions of themselves.

This is my favorite of the TMNT series I watched....note that I have only seen the up to season three of the original cartoon, both live action Bayverse style movies, and RISE.

This is probably in my top 5 favorite animated series. Good choice. There is originally 10 seasons but ever since covid KZfaq and now Netflix decided to combine 2 seasons into 1 making it 5 seasons.

Finally, KZfaq actually let us see some TMNT 2012 experience. If you liked the comedy then the show will be amazing, it got a lot of hilarious stuff. But, it will also give some heavy, and I mean really HEAVY drama, despite people bashing the show for being too "kiddish" before and during its premiere. Not a spoiler, but just small fun fact, the show's creator Ciro Nielli originally pitched a story about Splinter dying and Turtles having to survive on their own right from the first episode. Not raising cartoons bar beforehand, just saying the crew behind it knew and had passion about what they were doing. And yes, Shredder is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, the guy who also voiced Bulkhead in Transformers Prime.

Yeah, The VA for Shredder is one of my favourite VA's of all time. Kevin Michael Richardson. You'd probably know him as Bulkhead in TF Prime. Another one of his greatest roles was as The Joker in the animated series, The Batman.

Any percentage of different dna is enough to potentially cause a mutation incorporating that dna. The turtles were likely picked up by humans being they were from a pet store, leaving some human dna on them. Splinter touched the rat for a second and got rat dna on him. The mutagen took that and went ham

Yeah there are basically 2 stories on why Splinter and the Turtles mutate the way they do. One is they just become humanoid versions of there original selves. Splinter is sometimes a normal rat who just becomes a giant talking rat like the turtles become giant talking turtles, 2003 series, live action movies, mutant mayhem. The other is the mutagen changes them into hybrids of there original forms and the creatures they were most recently in contact with, Splinter the random rat, the turtles Human Splinter, 80's turtles, this series

Hell yeah, 2k12 TMNT!! If you already enjoyed what the first two episodes had to offer, you're absolutely going to love this show, it only gets better as it progresses for the most part! ^^ (btw, Splinter did not fuse with the rat, rather mutagen in this show works off DNA: whatever you mutate into is dictated by whatever DNA is added into the mix or you last touched, so for Splinter it was the rat that touched his feet, for the turtles it was Splinter himself before his mutation so human DNA and for Snake it was the weeds he was standing in)

I know this is just a single comment but that opening shot of New York reminds me to ask if you could react to Avengers Earths Mightiest Heroes. It’s been a while since I’ve watched the show but it is genuinely one of the most mature ‘kids’ cartoons (even more than prime I’d say) but it’s really epic and not super drab like other superhero shows, definitely recommend checking it out (eventually)
