In this pro wrestling documentary, I look at the historic rise of The Undertaker before WWF and his legedary time in WWE. A look at the history of Mark Calaway from his early beginnings in Texas, WCW and other pro wrestling companies, through his many characters in the start of his career and his eventual 21 match winning streak at Wrestlemania. This video aims to dig deeper into this WWE legend and what makes him stand out as one of the greatest.

Undertaker reinvented his character into amazing forms without completely losing the dead man persona. That is one of the reasons why his career lasted for 30 years without boring the audience.

The description from 14:34 on to around the 20 minute mark was the most beautiful description I've ever heard. I remember the first time I saw The Undertaker on tv when I was 4 and I was completely in awe of him. My mum expected me to be scared, little did she know it had kickstarted a love with all things dark, spooky and mysterious! I've always loved Taker and that description gave me goosebumps. It perfectly sums up what it feels like watching his entrance to the ring

WWE gained popularity due to Undertaker and decline with his fairwell. It is unfortunate that WWE is unable to create roaster of RAW attitude era. I’m sad that undertaker is leaving us. Great man, wrestler with charismatic personality and blessed by god with special aura. Thank you taker, you will always remain in our hearts.

I still remember the first time I watched the Undertaker's debut back on November 22, 1990. I didn't breathe for his entire match! That was the day that professional wrestling graduated to whole new level....and Hulk Hogan fell down a bunch of notches for me. I was never the same after that....

I watched in my grandma's living room. I remember my younger cousin being scared shitless. Flash forward a year or 2, taker was wrestling in Cincinnati and my uncle got tickets for him and my cousins, and my younger cousin realized the undertaker was going to be there and refused to go. So I got to go in his place.

I think it comes down to how he made KIDS feel when we first laid eyes on him at Survivor Series, how we would never forget him from that moment on, Maybe most of us didn't start out as fans, but we were always going to watch. Then we become fans.

100%. I grew up raised by gma Carol n she LOVED wwe (wwf back then of course, also a passionate NASCAR/Dale Sr fan. Shed commonly say during a wrestling show or race "Only 3 men could park their boots under my bed any day, that Bret Hart, the sexy sum bitch Dale, and that hip shakin devil Elvis himself god rest his soul" 🤣,). I was TERRIFIED as a 6,7(I was born in 83) year old kid of Undertaker, also watching in terror as he debuted at Survivor Series. On Mondays night, from that night up until I was old enough to be past kiddie nightmares, I couldn't even sit thru his entrance. Only 2 dudes ever spooked me like THAT, Taker and Papa Shango (fuck off lol)

The thing with the Undertaker is that, over the years, his character was heavily produced. They never gave up on the guy and his gimmick’s development. It lasted for decades then concluded with a sorrowful ending. He’ll be missed, but I hope he’s gonna stay on the sidelines because he’s gonna nothing left to prove. He’s been an absolute legend. Heck, he could’ve retired a decade ago and still, he’d be a legend.

Great piece! I was lucky enough to be in high school and remember the Undertaker's debut in WWF. You could tell from his very first Monday night squash match against a worker that he was something different. He wasn't there to work the crowd, he wasn't there to talk trash, he had no clique or allegiance - he just came in, destoryed his enemies and left. I absolutely loved it, and he has been my favorite wrestler since that very first night.

I think of Undertaker growing up as the Digimon of the WWE. Just as the series, a creature evolves and become more powerful than before from In-training to Rookie to Champion to Ultimate to Mega. Undertaker excelled his character from the Western Mortician (Grey to Purple), to the Deadman persona to the Ministry of Darkness, to American Badass, to back into the full Deadman into the Last Outlaw to the Cornerston of the WWE and now 2022 indicted into the WWE Hall of Fame. The mythical superstar who struck fear into the hearts of men has left us incredible, timeless and legendary iconic moments that there's never going to be another one like him. There is only one Phenom, Deadman, American Badass, Undead Warrior, Conscious of the WWE, there is only one Undertaker. My childhood legend.

Brock had a pretty amazing run around this time and for years following his victory, but if the idea was to eventually give all the momentum to Roman Reigns, why not have Reigns beat Undertaker and create a new bad guy for years to come. I agree with you - they shouldn’t have ended it this way

Especially to a guy who wasn't loyal to the WWE. Kept bouncing from WWE to UFC and back. It took Undertaker himself to go to UFC and talk Brock unto going back to WWE to so he could put Brock over. Horrible way to lose the greatest streak in pro wrestling history....

Wasn't the " king of the ring" hell in a cell, The Undertaker vs Mankind the 2nd time that the hell in a cell had ever been used in the WWE/WWF rather than the 3rd time as narated ?There are a few other details in this documentary/bi-opic that are slightly off but they don't really affect the overall history an accuracy of the information given from the actual story. In fact its a very well made piece, an you can tell a lot of time, effort an thought has been put into this. Was a great watch thanks. Was nice to see the whole history an events through a slightly different presentation to what's already out there, an almost lets you see the story from the view point an through the eyes an mind of the maker. Nicely done an definitely work you can be proud of. Thanks man.

No it was the 3rd there was a hell in a cell match (tornado tag) stone cold and the undertaker vs Kane and mankind on raw two weeks before KOTR. It’s referred to as the “lost” hell in a cell match as it was more to plug the ppv than an actual match.

I remember his debut I remember his last match and over the span of 30 years. he never got boring most never lost interest in him. He truely is one of the true legends of wrestling only to be matched by the likes of Rick Flair hulk Hogan and a few select others.. but he was the most loyal wrestler ever sticking with Vince for the entire 30 years.

This is possibly the best video that I have seen concerning the early days of Mark's career. I do with you would have touched on his gimmick of "The Commando". It was during this time of his career, I worked with Mark when he would wrestle for Brad "Bulldog" Davis in Illinois. Once again, great video.
