Rishi Sunak says increased military budget puts UK spending on 'war footing'

25 күн бұрынRishi Sunak has announced that UK defence spending would be boosted to 2.5% of GDP by 2030. 'Over the next six years, we’ll invest an additional £75bn in our defence. And it will be fully funded with no increase in borrowing or debt,' he said on a visit to Poland, adding that UK spending would be put on a 'war footing'

It's not just whatever will scrounge him a few more votes from gullible factions of society, Sunak owns shares in the weapons industry. They're likely also doing everything they can to damage the economic balances as much as possible for Labour to then be left with. So if Labour then have to cut the defence budget again to free up necessary funds for public sectors, a load of people will then see it as slashing defence for socialist money-wasting... Are the British people still really this easily duped and cajoled?

You may not have noticed but the Russians have been probing for weaknesses in the air and at sea with bear bombers and submarines searching out underseas cables connect the internet with the outside world so yes, we need to be able to counter these threats, it isn't just about potential invasion.

My understanding is that the budget currently includes pensions and peace keeping ,ETC and that on actual defence is more like 1.6% gdp, down from 6% in 1970s. So as usuall, it's just making up for past shortfalls and not really high enough for dozie donny to consider uk is paying its way in NATO.

They are too old, the air frames have a limited amount of flight time that can be used. Once those flight hours are used the next aircraft needs to come into service, there is a bit of a problem with that...

The UK really needs to revamp its military. I think those measures were much needed considering that Dictator regimes like North Korea, China and Russia have really focalised on strengthening their respective military capabilities.
