Speaking at the Rising Bharat Summit, Former United States Secretary of State said that the confict between India and Pakistan has always been risky. He said that the the risk of misunderstanding is “very real”, adding that consequences and bad things take place very quickly.
“Neither nation had a great deal of trust with each other,” Pompeo said.
Recounting a national security incident where a pilot was captured e said, “there was lots of anxiety and risk along the conflict zone but it became pretty clear and we were able to effectively demonstrate that the risk that the other side was moving towards using a nuclear weapon was very very low and we were able to take the tension down over the course of just a handful of hours.”
