mike oreilly is my uncle and as his only niece i must say im very proud of him especially after going through what my family did after my grandfather had fell. very proud of my family and the mark they left.

I’ve spent my whole life in construction as a pipefitter and I have nothing but respect and admiration for these guys. This video was shot during good weather. Imagine what it’s like with a 25 mile an hour wind and temperatures below freezing. My hat is off to them.

My fathers been an ironworker for 35 years, and although i didnt follow in his footsteps I have nothing but respect for my old man. To me he is the bravest person on planet earth. Repsect to ironworkers

As a scaffolder I tie off to the steel structure. As ironworkers they install the steel structure, takes a lot of balls to be an iron worker. Keep up the good work boys.

@@dagnrl215 you can get in through your local Carpernters union. IronWorkers don’t take on scaffolding anymore well at least not in Northern California

Retired Union Electrician here Local #3 NYC! Worked many jobs in WTC over the years! Nothing but respect and admiration for these guys! A few family members are Union Iron Workers in NYC, great guys and salt of the earth people. Proud to have these guys in the family! FJB!

I always wanted to be an ironworker when I grew up ... at some point in my life. I am proud to say I achieved that goal and can count myself among the best class of workers in the world. If the money was better than what I make now, I'd still be an ironworker.

Thank you to all the men and women that risk their lives every day doing what they love and building our country I always wanted to be a structural welder I got really sick last January Im hoping that I can at least do it. On the ground in a Warehouse building the beams or anything like that I had a construction background I did construction of 10 years framing Roofing all kinds of stuff I love the heights but ever since I got sick I'm very dizzy light-headed so I don't think I'll ever be able to do that but you never know thank you again for all you men women out there that keep on building our world

Years ago I got a chance to ride a hoist up 10 floors to deliver construction plans. Ofcourse I was on a safe floor ,but I seen the workers on the floors and I could not believe how they could do what they did,day in and day out. The courage, dedication and great spirit they have everyday

Great footage of a few connectors building a part of history. It's not everyday that one can say they've helped build such a project. And for those pecking at the ironworkers for wearing safety harnesses, you've obviously never worked on a "BIG" job before - it's required! Stick to the "little" jobs if you don't like wearing them.

it was a long time ago so im not sure what they pay now but its a great job you will never be more proud of a job then as a ironworker .the local in ottawa should have a apprentice coordinater they should be able to help you .good luck .

I’ve fallen 2 floors onto concrete. It’s sore let me tell you. But thanks to Paddy, he bent back the high tensile steel concrete starting bars I fell onto that morning. As he said to me, “I thought they were a bit dangerous at that position”

I'm an Ironworker 433 Las Vegas and I had my high school prom in WTC "98". Mike O'Reilly, your pop built one of the most famous buildings the world has ever seen. Just because 9/11 happened, doesn't hide the fact that it was built, it was there and he along with our brothers made that happen.

My grandfather fell off of what is now best buy. 27ft. Shattered his leg and really fucked up his back. And that was the same thing he said after he fell.. "Give me a cigarette".. crzy
