Have you ever thought about doing follow-up videos? Something where you maybe go over some of the riskier purchases you've made in previous videos (like the dolls in this one) and tell us how you actually came out on the deal once you managed to sell it?
@jwwj302 жыл бұрын
beyondtheflame77, that's what I want too. Like 6 months from now, Anthony could make a video about the items he bought today. He's great at editing & splicing in tidbits, he could have a 15 second recap of the dolls, GI Joe, etc. he bought & then go to the actual sales. I'd be very interested in the financial side of the business. I understand his need for privacy, so it probably won't happen. I dabble somewhat here in San Diego & it's time very consuming, but once in awhile you do hit that grand slam.

We luck out here with Estate Sales. Elderly people tend to price things cheap like they did at the garage sales they always used to have- 5¢, 10¢, etc. It's a hoot. (Unless of course it's their kids having the estate sale and they are sentimental about the items, then they do price high.) Now off to watch the rest. 💗🐸

The average is definitely the way to look at things. I usually take the full days receipts and just work toward covering that. Once it is covered, what is left is profit. You can't kick yourself for the bad buys or nitpick the uncertainties. I do concur with the above comments. It would be cool to hear how you came out on some of the riskier buys. Of course, being 2 years ago, maybe you have covered that by now. I've only watched a couple of dozen of the frogfests.

I found a very thin book on the book shelf at an estate sale. I thought it was covered in vellom, but never saw vellom before, it just looked really old. It unpriced so I asked the owner of the Estate sale company snd got it for 10 dollars. On closer inspection, it was printed in 1604. Encloased in it was a hand made envelope. The envelope contained a document hand-written in old German long hand. I know enough German and history that I believe it to be a contract between King George 111 and Frederick the Great for Prussia to provide England with Hessian troops for the Revolutionary War and for their war with France. I determined his by the dates, the word contract, and the royal seal. the book had a beautiful drawing f a battle in a harbor on the last page. the book was written in old Latin. Took it the the Antique road show. they determined the book was worth 2500 to 3500, had no clue about the contract. Took the book to our antique mall space and pute a price of 1500 on it and sold it the first day for 1000. I still have the contract. could have held out for more, but getting 1000 for a 10 dollar investment was pretty good. I always go foe boxes of ephemera too. Happy finds in them too.
@jayz67062 жыл бұрын
You really should’ve held on to that book a little while longer. At least to gauge some interest with it because letting it go on the first day for 2/3 of the listing price was a big mistake.

Froggy, I have a friend who’s father has an entire collection of original GI joes from the 1980s, im talking a huge collection of vintage figures with all their equipment and gear. I can’t remember if he has any sealed ones but he has like 2-3 bins, all neatly arrange, some are in bags with their gear and guns, he has the space ship, the attack ship and a bunch of other vehicle’s and add ons. He had them since he was a kid and he’s in his 60s and took amazing care of them. If you’re interested I can try to arrange a meet up. Only thing is we are located in NY, if you’re willing to make the trip. But o think you’ll definitely be impressed with what he has

Estate sales can be over priced. They can also be terrific. The one you went to , it's clear that the Barbie dolls that this woman was selling were in great shape and she put a lot of effort into making sure that they had their boxes and that the outfits were complete. The price point was on par with the level of quality and the amount of work that was put into getting those dolls ready for sale.
