Why are we fascinated with dangerous wild animals?

A better question is; why do we think it’s ok to keep wild animals in cages for their entire lives? Heartbreaking

Problem with NCL is they are the only cruise line I've heard making these type changes for the obscure reasons they provide. And they seem to be doing it fairly frequently. I understand propulsion issues, weather, and port congestion. But the reasons NCL provides are sketchy at best.

Skipping Tortola sounds like a cost cutting move for sure - no docking fee, less fuel consumption...

NCL dropped Tortola because of the missing passengers. Five passengers have gone missing from the Norwegian Sky at this port within the past month and a half. Authorities are investigating the missing person cases and out of caution NCL is skipping this stop. But of course they don’t want to say that safety is the concern.

NCL is NOT going to Tortola because they have had recent passenger escapes in the Virgin Islands. Twice now people have gotten off there and "perhaps" purposely not returned to the ship. Both times groups of adults from the Dominican Republic. Where they went remains a mystery but obviously authorities do not like the "disappearing passenger" scenario. Especially when it starts to repeat itself.

Just got off Mardi Gras with probably a case of Noro or food poisoning 😮Want to thank the people that help herd people out of the terminal, an angel lady saw my husband struggling and came out of no where and grabbed his luggage and helped him🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻☘️

It is so convenient to have a private island where imost of the money goes to ncl. They are just continuing to build their bank account while cancelling a port of call. Not right.

NCL dropping a foreign port in favor of their Private Island. - I call BS on all their 'excuses.' Carrying passengers to their own island after selling a cruise to Tortola, sounds a lot like "Bait & Switch" - I select my cruises based on the itinerary.

I think he wanted to get off the ship without having to swipe his cruise card. That way the ship would leave thinking he was still onboard. A good way to try and “disappear”. There is more to this story I think.

22 years ago I moved into my “forever house.” I swore I would die here. Now I’m feeling the wanderlust and seriously thinking about moving. Never say never.

Wow. Losing Tortola would be a huge disappointment in place of extra time at their private island. We loved going to the baths there. One of our favorite ports.

SNUCK STORY: When we were kids, some friends wanted to see a movie together. We didn't have the coins to get in. They bought their tickets, told us to wait by the emergency exit at the back. Once the movie started, they let us in. I think we only stayed for part of the movie and left. I was pretty young and don't remember it well.

Had to rewind just so I could sing along with you on the madrigal. Apparently I still remember the alto part for that one!😂

I've snuck into theaters to see rated R movies when I was a kid. I saw John Carpenter's The Thing, which was the scariest movie I've seen as a 15yo.

We are on the Getaway on the transatlantic cruise and we got the same letter for the same reasons as to why we are getting 45 minutes less in Belfast. I hate how they think that not telling us the true reason that we will have less times makes us have any faith in NCL at all.

On the NCL Jade last month we missed a port stop and had a sea day. The Captain told us 2 days later, he made the decision in order so we could have a little more time at one of our stops. No compensation was made for this missed stop. I must assume NCL pocketed the money we spend for port fees and dockage!!!!

As a kid in Brooklyn, my best friend and I used to cut school and sneak into the movies.. lol

Hmmmm…..I think I’ve seen that movie about the guy trying to “escape” but was actually trying to disappear. By not using the traditional means of disembarking, it would have looked like he was still on the ship and by the time they missed him, they would have no idea what had happened and possibly assumed he went overboard somewhere.

NCL Jade 6/15 sailing rerouted from Key West port stop! The entire cruise itinerary is upset the fruit basket. People scrambling to rebook excursions, dining reservations and family/friends events! No help from our TA.

We stopped at Tortola on our cruise in January. We went on an NCL sponsored tour and felt safe. I'd rather stop at a port then spend another day at the private islands.

Well, I snuck into Germany at the Czech border because while I was in Czech Republic, my passport was stolen. That was back before the EU, and the borders were NOT open. I had no way to get back to Germany without a passport, and there was no US embassy/consulate in Prague, so I would have been detained indefinitely. That was one scary border crossing. Fortunately I was on a tour bus, and the tour company put me in the bathroom and had me hide on the floor below the windows...so I wouldn't be seen.....but there was nothing to keep the guards (yes, they came THROUGH the bus to check passports) from looking in the bathroom. I just got SUPER lucky and they didn't check.

If you go to Puerto Vallarta and they have a shore excursion called 'the Rythums of the Night', I highly recommend it. We did it a couple of weeks ago. Amazing time from beginning to end. Have fun!

We are on the May 26 cruise, and we are very disappointed that we will not be going to the BVI. The NCL is often cancelled due to weather so that would mean that we would only get two stops on a seven-day cruise instead of the advertised 4 stops. Let's hope that that doesn't happen.

@lalidoloca I'm on a NCL cruise in August in UK and got nearly the same email on port changes for that cruise too.

They don’t always stop at stirrup cay because it’s a tender and weather is always a factor.

When I was in my early 20s, I used to go for walks around 1am-2am. Sometimes I'd sneak into the park after hours. The park was on a hill over-looking the city and the Mississippi river. It was also surrounded by trees. The parks street lights would be off after 10pm and it would be pitch black in there with only the moon or stars to light it up. Every now and then, a park ranger would drive through the park so I'd have to hide behind a tree or pavilion when I saw the headlights coming.

Hopefully they can tender. We went on NCL Escape 3/30 and could not get off ship because of 6ft waves. Royal caribbean has docks and had 2 ships at their island that is next to NCL' s island. So just because you get extra time at the island does not mean you will actually get to step foot on it. It was a beautiful sunny day but a bit windy which caused the waves.

Recently returned from a Norwegian cruise and they eliminated one of our ports and increased our time at another one. Very disappointed.

I'm on one of the NCL Breakaway cruises affected by Tortola port cancellation, 12 hours on GSC is about 4 to 6 hours too long. If it rains, you get as well as if you were swimming. There is little to do there other than sunbathing and swimming. Mobility devices are only beach wheelchairs requiring assistance to be pushed.. Additionally, GSC is a tender port that often cancels due to high/dangerous swells. Also both Puerto Plata and St. Thomas are shortened by almost 2 hours each. So far, only $100 per stateroom has been given. People already unhappy. If GSC get cancelled whether weather related or not, there will be many more rumblings. Many recent cruisers are stating the sanitation system is not working causing many flushing issues. I would hope that if it is unsanitary, the ship would not sail. I plan on sitting on my aft-facing balcony enjoying my adult beverages and the scenery.

What did I sneak into? In jr. high we would sneak into the school during summer and weekends to play basketball when it was too hot or cold outside. No harm done. We just knew the gym exit doors didn't latch tightly.

Right before I got my driver's license, my friend, who was driving, and I were going down a street that had a barricade. We didn't see a reason for it so I hot out moved the barricade and got in the car. At the other end, I did the same thing. As I finished, out of the dark, I hear "What are you doing?" I said "it was in our way, so I moved it!" Of course, it was a cop! That was all the sneaking I did!

I was lucky to be one of the last Breakaway passengers to stop at Tortola. We were there last week and were told that Breakaway would no longer be stopping there in a couple of weeks so this was long in the planning stages. Ironically, the next stop was GSC and we weren't able to tender. In fact, it was my second time in a row to GSC that we couldn't get off the ship. The cruise director rep assigned to the solos told me that in the 6 times they'd gone there since he joined the ship they'd only been able to get off the ship once. Yes, they're building a dock which may be completed by the end of next year, but it's kind of funny that they are dropping Tortola in favor of GSC when they actually used to do both, and often couldn't get off at GSC anyway. Plus everyone got a $75 refund.

Norwegian cruise line is a joke I was on the breakaway in November and we were in Greece and we miss to Stop because of the captains discretion. We miss Athens, Greece and we miss Pisa. People on the boat were stark raving, mad security was in full affect, they broke a giant glass in the lido deck I’ve never seen so many security people in one place at one time Norwegian does this all the time we sailed with them six times before no more.

You know what is interesting is that i am scheduled on the Breakaway June 9 for what appears to be the exact same cruise, but my stop in Tortola has not been cancelled!!!

I would be mad about that reason to skip Tortola; Great Stirrup Cay has NOTHING on it!

When I was a kid my family took our first trip to the Boundary Waters in Northern MN for a canoe and camping trip. On our first day we could not find an open camping site on the US side of the border. We could see bad weather coming and it was getting late in the day so we ended up finding a spot on the Canadian side of the border and set up camp just as the bad weather came through. We did not have a permit to enter Canada so technically we snuck into Canada.

They did the same to us on the Norwegian Epic that leaves Civitavecchia towards the Greek Isles on May 9th. They canceled our stop at Corfu, changed our itinerary, and changed Corfu for Katakolon. A lot of unhappy cruisers because of the cancellation and change of itinerary. NCL is using the exact same language in the notice.

Good morning Tony! Loved the vid. Word of warning: Long Beach Terminal was a cluster “f” last Sunday when we returned on the Carnival Miracle from Alaska. Miracle passengers are not able to park in the structure and are shuttled to a nearby convention center parking structure. This has created a problem with “drivers” (not Uber or any other reputable company). They come in as the ship ports and take all of the loading curb parking (lock and leave their cars unattended) and congest the structure. Family pick up car traffic is forced to double park around the parked cars and incoming traffic is held back to allow for loading and unloading in the congested environment made by the unsolicited random drivers. The “held back” traffic can back up to the freeway off ramp at times causing an hour plus wait to enter and pick up or deliver passengers. When I approached the man directing the traffic in the structure about the cars that had been parked for over an hour, he suggested that I tell them to move. Appears to be no authority in charge of the mess Allow enough time to get into the terminal! Especially since they have added the Firenze to the already busy port. Don’t know how they are going to fix this hot mess. Have a great cruise!

We also missed Totola and we got and extra sea back in March on the NCL Sky cruise.

I snuck into an R-rated (may have been X-rated in those days) movie when I was a mere pup. It was the movie "The Exorcist" and it scared me soooo bad I never did that again! That was probably 50yrs ago now ans I still haven't forgotten it!

As my dad would say, NCL is in people’s ear and telling them it’s raining. They are skipping ports for $$$ and hiding it behind customer experience, environmental concerns, etc. For the first time in my life I’ve said I won’t book on a particular line. NCL is out for me.
