The 5-7 Blue Gem tradeup is actually pretty decent. The #278 and #690 are both considered #1 and there are about 80 patterns that are considered a T1, T2 or T3 blue gem. If you do a tradeup for a St FN version, the 5-7 will be money back at least AND gives you the chance of one of those 80/999 blue gems. And one of the best patterns would probably go for about $8k+!

Chance to get a Five seven blue gem: First 1 in 4 for the case hardened, then 1 in 999 to get blue gem. Add this together and you get a 1 in 4000 chance. A knife is a 1 in 400 so 10x harder :)
