Just my 2 cents on why he's overseas when his father is in financial difficulty. Such trips are things that you plan nearly half a year in advance; payments, planning, bookings are done many many weeks before hand. I think that by the time his father gave in to Anomaly helping out financially, it was too late to cancel the trip without the airlines, hotels etc. taking the late-cancellation surcharge. And let's face it, I doubt that travel insurance would cover him if the reason was: "Papanomaly neeeed munneh!". So yeah i think the "cheapest" and easiest way would just be going through with the holiday, try not to overspend there and coming back in one piece. Nice.
