Hi!
My name is Rita, and I’m a beautiful German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a tail that won’t stop wagging. I’ve been on quite the journey, but I’m ready to find my forever home where I can thrive and share endless cuddles and adventures.
A little about me:
I arrived with a canine companion, but he found a new family already! I’m flying solo now and finding my own way. It’s been a big change, but I’m ready for the next chapter.
I was a bit under the weather and too slender when I got here for comfort, but after some clever detective work by the folk at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, we discovered I had a mild case of Valley Fever. Maybe that was why my previous owners abandoned me. Don’t worry though; I’m on medication for and it seems to be working. But the folks here suspected that there was more than just the Valley Fever.
So they ran a DNA test and it revealed I needed a special diet, and since switching, I’ve been feeling much better. The best part? My new favorite food is super common and budget-friendly! Finally I am enjoying my meals!
I’m still building my confidence, especially on walks. Those vroom-vroom machines (cars) can be scary, but I’m learning to be brave. With a little patience and love, I’ll be strutting down the street in no time.
I don't know if I am house trained yet. I am staying in the kennels here so there is no way to know for sure.
I’m spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, so I’m all ready to go!
I’ve lived with another dog before, so with a proper introduction, I could have a furry sibling again. Cats are unknown, but I’m willing to learn.
A quiet environment would be ideal for me, perhaps with a canine buddy or someone who’s home often to keep me company.
