@@SteveBello While Ronnie's graciousness is fully documented in how meant it and how he treated his fans, Ritchie is more reclusive and it's often mistaken for rudeness. I doubt he's ever spat on anyone.

@@SteveBello this was during Ronnie's angry period, no idea what was driving his rhetoric at this point but it's the way people get when they're upset about something, lashing out. The same interview has him slagging off Rising yet he's played half the album live since then and been interviewed and said many nice things about Rising and Ritchie.

Blackmore has a very dry sense of humour that a lot of people from outside the UK find hard to pick up on. His interviews are often very informative; like the rest of Deep Purple he's a very skilled musician.

I think he's autistic, I'm autistic too. He rings all the bells. Autistic humour tends to be very dry, are very littoral, say it as we see it, monotone voice, lack of facial expressions, trouble understanding other opinions, etc. Plus the private dressing room being a necessity, which was extremely rare back then. Look at interviews when candice is with him, he's loads more comfortable with her there.

Whatever his persona, whatever ex band mates may say about his personality, Ritchie Blackmore was a giant of a guitar player. Concise, melodic and economic with what he played, he does not get the more public recognition that he should have. From the rest of us it's just a case of thank you, Mr. Blackmore.

Ritchie Blackmore is one of the greatest if not the greatest of all guitarist in my opinion. He never play garbage solo (Jimi Page) or force a solo in every song. Very Humble, he never inserted a solo if not needed, (Fireball, space Truckin) etc. It takes humilty as a leader of the band to control your emotion. I heard that even the best players in the world has a hardtime to copy the solo Highway Star. You have to control your emotion. Deep Purple without him - becomes a tribute band. Not a single hit after he left the band. The band popularity in concerts relied on the music he was part mostly all those years ago. Its a shame how underated he is as a best player in the world. He is is not fastest player but he has something that shred player dont have - he has substance, He dont bored his audience, unlike some shred music good only for 3 minutes, and then your brain tells you eh its the same. I still play Deep Purple and Rainbow music on a weekly basis. Not tiring to listen at all.

This is the Ritchie that I had come to know......the one I admire....because this is who he is.....he offered me food in Pittsburgh, which I was grateful to receive. Later, I was able to return the favor, by having inserted a Euro support act CD in a gift I gave to him in Pittsburgh. The support act succeeded in being the support act in Europe, somewhere, shortly afterward. It all worked out well. Thank You Ritchie for your kindness......

50 years ago I fell in love w. Ritchie as a guitarist. ❤️ 5 minutes ago I fell in love with him 💕 as a personality, having just listened to his interview, his most important interview ever, as it : 1) clears up all the ambiguous points in his image and dissolves some dark clouds that used to cover his past behaviour. "you can tell by the look in his eyes" 2) he told the world in a few minutes everythng that I myself have been wanting to say since decades, but I didn't have the "tribune" to do so. Finally, Jesus declared Himself everything His disciples have failed to . LONG LIVE THE KING 🙏

I’ve seen Ritchie in concert about 15 times first with Rainbow and then Deep Purple and Blackmore’s Night. I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and saw many big bands and their guitar players. Blackmore was like no other. His style, his flair, his persona, his energy and his playing technique were far beyond anybody else that I saw. Some others were great technical players but dull to watch. When Blackmore was on fire he could burn the whole place down. He was incredible.

It seems like Ritchie has changed Even within the last decade or so. Although I don't know him personally I've been following him since before I was old enough to pick up my first guitar. I hate that younger people don't appreciate what he's done for music in general much less the hard Rock genre being basically royalty to the sound. But he seems happier you can tell when he's around his children he just glows; and Candice is gracious enough to show personal photos of family together and you can just see proud dad beaming. Showing his sense of humor during live streams. I know he's had a history of being aloof and distant but being in front of the camera and doing this shows that he really cares about his fans. I love it when they do the live streams and you get to see more than just a few minutes of Richie's character and personality not to mention his incredible musical talents. Such a magical blend with Candice's Angelic voice it's just a beautiful thing to watch and listen to. Thank you Ritchie for doing this and giving us all the magical music and stage presence throughout all these years somebody needed to say thank you. Y'all have a beautiful family and we appreciate you sharing them with us. Please continue to make the Beautiful music we've all come to love and cherish. Your lovely melodies and mystical sounds are certainly an inspiration to us all. Thank you both.

He, and his lovely wife, have given me so much! I almost hesitate to say so, but I've ended up with three Amazon parrots, even if I only opted for one of those myself, and at any time that I put on a song by Blackmore's Night, they usually sit and sing along. Right, he looks like he did in the video where he said he was planning to ambush Gillan with some Swedish friends or something like that ;-)

I wonder why Ritchie doesn't mention Uriah Heep at the beginning of the video. I would count them among Britain's foremost classic Rock bands in the early 70s. Perhaps not on the same level as LZ and DP, but certainly on par with BS. BTW sometimes I wonder if Ritchie and Ken Hensley would have gotten along 😉(probably not, but musicwise I think it could have been quite interesting).

I composed Smoke on the water. Way back then, I did ask them to change the lyrics they wrote, when they brought them by for my approval, to smoke in the air. But they explained to me it represents that fine mist coming off a lake during early morning hours...:-( Blackmore may not know this, but I also composed for Freddy in Queen....probably why he really liked the music...;-) Surprise!

As in both played bluesy music I would imagine, I interpret it as Clapton along with Free. Ironically Ritchie wanted Paul Rodgers to replace Gillan at one point I believe. Clapton of course also played with the Yardbirds and was replaced by Beck who was then replaced by Page. I would also imagine that he knows that Paul Kossoff was the guitarist in Free given he got up on stage with the Sweet in 1976 and played All Right Now in tribute to Paul after his death.

I'm going to have to take Richie's side on every argument... Ian Gillen is a great singer. That being said.. Sebastian Bach or any other young guy could fill his spot almost. There's not another guitar player on the planet that could fill Ritchie Blackmore's spot. EVER.

You started to talk about this because it was inside of you for so many years Ritchie. Why didn't you tell others about it back then? Probably would make them realize what was going on...
