Yes stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over 250k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are alot of wealth transfers in this downtime if you know where to look.

Depends on the company. Some just keep going up. I bought 100 shares of Apple in the early 90’s, at around 26 dollars a share. I sold it a few months later for a 400 dollar profit. I regret that now. Those shares are worth over 2.8 million today. Who knows what Nividia will be in the next 30 years. Tesla is another company in that same league.

The RSI is high. But Nvidia is backing it up with $11B in revenue next quarter. A 64% upside surprise. Long term traders [Josh] are prudent to trim but new buyers [Steve] are also prudent to participate before revenue gets priced in to $500.
@christopherl4249

Here is the CNBC headline for November 16, 2018: "Nvidia tumbles 19% after missing on revenue and guidance" I am wondering how Lance and Adam missed this, since the credibility of this forward guidance should be called into question. Funny, how the CEO pull this 11B number out of his backend with no justification and everyone just believes it. By the way NVDA's manufacturer, Taiwan Semi-conductor, shows no increase in manufacturing orders.
@LawrenceMarkFearon
@LawrenceMarkFearon Жыл бұрын
@@christopherl4249 NVIDIA ordered their Ai chips from TSMC last year. But AMD is experiencing the same Ai chip shortages. Go ahead. Call Nvidia and their customers, they’ll tell you if you order a GPU today you’re not getting it for a year. The stock is up 159% since January for a reason and the GPU sales on 70% margin will continue through 2023. When you have to go out 4 years to find a quarter where they missed no company is investable. Even Apple missed the quarter after the iPad came out. Don’t invest on earnings day, invest during the months before the report and hold.
@christopherl4249
@christopherl4249 Жыл бұрын
@@LawrenceMarkFearon It was not a miss; it was a huge miss. NVDA went down nearly 20%. Cramer was on TV that day complaining and saying that it would be a long time before he believed the CEOs guidance again. People who bought the stock on the August 2018 guidance saw a 20% drop in the value of their share and had to wait 18 months just to break even. Of course it does not seem to occur to anyone that if the CEO can increase his value by 20 billion by just moving his lips then why not. It worked before. Even if there is a chip shortage (and it seems that plenty of wall street analysts disagree with your assessment) that does not translate into a 52% increase in revenues. If you cannot produce the chips then you still do not make extra revenues. Taiwan semi-conductor has not increase their forward guidence (no big order waiting in the wings), nor have NVDA's significant customers increased their expenses for AI. There is no corroborating evidence for the CEO's speculation. As for one big giant miss in 4 years; check Warren Buffet's Berkshire Hathaway. You will have a hard time finding any serious miss on their guidance. The results speak for themselves. Berkshire has significantly outperformed the S$P500 since 2000. Honesty pays off for investors. Dishonesty pays off only for the insiders.

Everyone that comments agrees with Brown. And since he is managing other peoples' money, his move is understandable. But it could be that he is just reacting to a human emotion, the fear of losing money, rather than all the rational reasons he gives. He is clearly not playing by the Buffet strategy, " we hope it goes down, so we can buy more." Selling to take "profits" is based on faulty reasoning, as has been pointed out by others. Most likely this is the reason that Buffet never talks about it.

NVIDIA, UBER = Speculative stocks, not Investment stocks... 200 TIme P/E Ratio means, you have to wait 200 years, to breakeven in actual business profits. Means, nobody is looking for investing in the actual business, but everybody is buying in speculation and "hope" that the stock would go higher, pretty much live crypto currency. This is a perfect recipe for the stock to collapse and to invite short-seller in. Josh is intelligent, to get partially out, but he should get out completely before it all comes down, which it will in a month or so... ⚠ Updated Comment: I take it back for NVIDIA. The horror? You took profits? Listening to the judge to get investment advice is like asking chair jerry for a list of college economics classes he attend during his lawyering degree days? 202 p/e 50x sales 35x revenues Someone just talks about value and never lives it?
