A music system in Destiny is when a piece of music is edited into dozens of short files and then restructured into various intensities that can be called in the game. These intensities usually include ambient, tension, action, and high action.
This is one of the music systems composed for the Pale Heart destination that was also used in the 7th Final Shape campaign mission "Iconoclasm".

I know everyone is saying that this track is better than the raid one, but honestly i don't think thats a problem, lemme explain, in this track (and also the "boss fight") it doesn't feel like you are really fighting the witness, rather you are desperately surviving a literal death match against something that can easily wipe you from existence, and this track really conveys that. The raid song, it illustrates how you and the witness are now on equal footing and now you can actually damage it, however, killing it it's still out of the question, and your only objective it's to stop it from creating the final shape, there's always a presence of pressure, tension, and when our theme appears for just a few seconds, it's immediately replaced by the witness theme. The excision theme, however, it's another story, this time you don't have to worry about a final shape, now you actually kill that bastard and you are not holding back anymore I swear, this type of storytelling in just 3 themes is amazing and kudos for Michael Salvatori for creating such a goated soundtrack

You're right. I think I had a pretty L take before. I've given the Raid and Excision mixes more chances than this one and I can now say that those, while still in my opinion aren't better, they're top tier tracks that remain in my top three. I talked with Michael himself via E-mail, and apparently literally all of TFS OST was up and ready to go before the layoffs. I'm sorry for the absolute garbage take I had before, I think what's amazing about these songs is that they aren't really mean tot be looked at solo, they ARE the story of how we kill the Witness, and I missed that.

@@Mailman679 I have no idea if this response is actually for real or a joke, but I went to the comment section to find that take and, yeah it wasn't the best tbh, also I wanted to point out that the raid track you mentioned in that comment isn't actually the raid song, that's like the intro when you first enter the arena after the parkour section and the actual track is unmade

I finally noticed that the witness wasn’t actually there during this fight. He rooted himself to the traveler, this was just an avatar peering through his mirror power stuff. We literally uproot him during the raid and he is kinda drifting around like a weed (without legs) during excision if you look

It was there, plus at the end of this fights cutscene it transformed to its raid form, it only became part of the Monolith after this fight

As someone else noted, the raid theme isn't meant to "hot hard" or be heroic, it is meant to be opressing, like giving you not a single moment of confidence and always stressing you. And the raid theme captures that perfectly imo

@antares8826 after hearing that it does make it a little better for me. It has definitely grown on me but I do feel it could have been a little more intense as the Witness is the closest it's ever been to enacting the final shape in that fight and I feel it could have definitely kept the oppressing tone while also carrying the intensity that you are mear minutes away from the end of the universe. It is still an intense track but I wish it carried the tone of shear panic with the rising strings and blaring horns this one does.

@@Deltadog55 You mean like Vault phase 3? Seems kind of weird that Bungie went hard for opening a door, but opted for tense music during the end of the universe.

@@Deltadog55 I wished it would be a little more intense too, especially during the final stand, but it fits the theme. Additionally, it fits the witness quite well since it is very reserved (?) compared to Nezarec and Rhulk, which their tracks and the comparison between the three reflects quite well

@@antares8826 I feel it's reserved demeanor is more a facade for its true nature. As seen at the end of Iconoclasm and Lightfall it's actually on par with Nezarec in terms of pure rage. And whilst this theme encapsulates that the raid one doesn't. But that might be because in the raid it actually is more reserved because it is confident it will succeed. With DPS being the one part where they actually start to panic. I like the inclusion of Unveiled in the background of the theme but It could do with some more vocals or strings to keep up the tension that The Witness may actually succeed.

Does anyone else think The Witnesses story battle kinda falls flat when compared to Calus’s and Savathûn’s? At least as far as gameplay goes? Like I know REALLY harming them was reserved for the missions that came after, and I know The Witness was toying without us out of prideful amusement, but they could have at least given them a few more different attacks here and there, maybe throw around some light and darkness debuffs as we progressed (Like have it so a new debuff is applied to us each time a new subjugator’s summoned, that’s cleared after we kill them, like if a strand one spawns, we’re all severed until it’s defeated, or if a stasis one is out, we get slowed each time we take a hit, or The Witness entwines his attacks with Light debuffs assuming we survive getting hit by him).

I prefer this far more than Calus's fight. As not only is the setting oppressing but it actually has mechanics (even if they are minimal) unlike calus who is just a shoot him until he dies scenario with a couple tormentors. Which could have worked if his health pool wasn't so shallow and the setting not as boring. I'd rather something more like his throne room seen in the cutscenes despite that not making sense in a narrative point of view its just the Veil containment room leaves no place for interesting mechanics because its just a circle and a few platforms with little cover. That and all of Calus's attacks are recycled from other bosses and enemies. With his only interesting attacks being recycled from Vow of the Disciple. I'd consider the Witness fight very similar to savathuns and at the very least on par. But definitely better than Calus.

I think the fights with the Witness were really awesome but I do wish we saw Stasis attacks from it (especially since Stasis is kinda like the embodiment of the Witness goal) or other Darkness powers

Calus's fight was a huge huge dissapointment for me, but compared to Savathuns i probably do prefer her campaign boss more. Fighting the witness 3 different times makes up for it tho

Okay; first, I don’t agree so I’ll prepare you for that. Why would the witness throw out other attacks when he hates the light and what it stands for. He it utilizing it to do the opposite of what it does. Also there are two other missions ( one raid) which are supposed to be where we win

Intro? If you're referring to what the soundtrack version starts with, that's a stripped down version of the high action's intro which I do have. -Breshi

nah the soundtrack version doesn't have the intro when you start the fight you get this menacing intro stinger that I've yet to hear in any upload

@@destiny_music_archiveYes, that part is 100% what OP means. In in-game mix that part was used as "intro" to the fight. But overall the entire fight music was heavily scripted with mostly tension part playing with some action overlays.

Somehow this track understands the Witness better than both the Raid track (First Knife) and the Excision track (Stronger, Together). The only part of TFS I'm so disappointed in is the soundtracks for the Witness. Imo, those tracks don't top The First Disciple, and they don't top Oneriophobia. Hell, it doesn't even top Tyrant Overthrown. I was so excited to see what Salvatori would do with something as vague but as threatening as the Witness. When I heard he was being replaced, my fears rose, and I knew the Witness' tracks would suffer because of it. Unfortunately, I was correct. This is the only one that hits hard for me, and gives me at least a somewhat feeling of fighting a TRUE god in the Destiny universe.

Make your own fate goes ungodly hard, it is definitely better than Ritual Site. But I do agree ritual site is one of the better tracks. Honestly, the campaign had some banger tracks. Paracausal Mutilation is one of my favorite tracks in a while, and perservate is also super good. It's a little bittersweet, usually the raid has the best soundtracks but the only raid ost I actually enjoy is herald.

Btw salvatori did compose stuff in the final shape. He got fired after the ost was already over. Also, the witness themes were made by the same guy that made the banger that was rhulk. And the ost of nezarec
