I will never forget when my band played this during my Junior Year of high school for district large group contest. My dad was my director and right before the big ending, we locked eyes and we knew at that moment that we played really well and no matter what score we got, we will always have that moment.

what I love about this piece is that everyone has something good, in a lot of wind band pieces you will get an amazing part and everyone else will have some mildly interesting bits but on the whole thier part is uninteresting but everyone who comments on here loves thier parts. Ive seen trumpet player comment, a flautist, a clarinet player, a french horn player. I could go on. Reineke writes the most amazing music giving everyone something fun to play which is very rare talent.

When I was in middle school, we played this song. It was by far the most difficult piece I played that year and yet the most fun. I played Tuba and we had to learn how to cycle our breathing for the start.

At first, I didn't like this song. I got the music and played through it and thought it was ehh. I mean it was E flat scale over and over in sixteenth notes. Not the most challenging run I've encountered, but as we started playing as a band I really started to enjoy this piece. It has so much dynamic and meaning behind it. Plus, it sounds cool when all the runs are put together with everyone and its fast and clean. Love it!
