In this video, I am over on the Welsh/English border to paddle a section of the river Severn with my good friends George, Rachel and of course Andy from Kent Survival.
We have three days to paddle from Welshpool to Shrewsbury, wild camping along the way and carrying all we need for the adventure in our canoes.
Day three begins with the most stunning early morning river mist - a most positive start to our final day on the river. After a hearty breakfast, we pack up and get back on the water - our camp spot on the narrow beach of an island has been fantastic - better than we could have hoped for and totally unexpected.
Our last day takes us along nicely flowing water, lined with trees and teaming with wildlife as we wind our way towards the town of Shrewsbury and the hustle and bustle of civilisation.
It has been a wonderful journey along a beautiful river full of surprises and a delightful feast for the eyes whichever direction you look. Thank you George and Rachel for inviting us to join you and thank you for organising and arranging everything - it is always a logistical challenge organising a linear canoe trip, but everything worked like clockwork!
I hope you enjoy the video.
Thanks for watching.

Always enjoy your canoeing adventures. Always so peaceful and beautiful. I've been canoeing once on the Loxahatchee River in Florida, where we saw alligators instead of Swans and Grebes, and kayaking once around Chincoteague Island, VA where we saw wild ponies on the beaches and in the marshes. So I know the peace and quiet and the serenity one feels on the water in a unmotorized boat. Will look forward to your next outing! Stay safe and healthy

So jealous paddling with the swans. I was surprised that the swans weren't a swearing. Guessing young around. But, that one male swan was giving you a heavy hissing. The waterfowl is wonderful for sure. The family of grebes/ducks fun to see... The purple flowering bushes or tree do you know what they are? Huge willows. Humans walking with the coos sharing the shore...nice old community for sure. Thanks so much! What few swans we have, they do migrate congregate along old cannels of the Missouri River.. oxbows. It depends on the weather too. I am going this fall winter to see them. When I was younger 1970 or 80s in this area my car I think it was my chevette.. was attacked by a huge snapping turtle bang banging...... The turtles too can be feisty outright dangerous... It is a wildlife area of many species. I even seen in the summer green herons I think a black headed heron night heron maybe thats the name... too...the blue heron is more common. Thanks again..
