I like that the people are just casually watering their lawns while the firefighters are trying to put out the large fires that might engulf the homes of those same people watering their lawns, lol. That's how you know, you live in California, hahaha, where fire comes around every year.

I'm sorry but is it just not taught in the US to get out early or stay and defend? As an Australian with this mentality drilled into me it honestly makes my blood boil to see people in shorts or skirts hosing down their land as a fire bears down on them. They are not ready to stay and defend and they have left it too late to safely evacuate. If your staying and defending have appropriate PPE, don't stay and defend in shorts and thongs. Use natural fibre clothing, thick woollen jumpers, broad brim leather hats, thick boots and gloves, sturdy jeans and a thick shirt or use stuff like a boiler suit. Never use a garden hose, use fire hoses and pumps with about 1" diameter and 30m+ of hose. Have a water tank with at least 2000L of water in it. If you don't have any of what I have listed then evacuate early before it becomes unsafe.
