Riverlea Clashes I Police Minister Bheki Cele meets with Riverlea residents

Police Minister Bheki Cele says they have arrested almost 90 suspected kingpins involved in illegal mining. He was speaking during an engagement with residents of Riverlea south of Johannesburg. Residents say they're fearing for their lives due to the ongoing turf wars between rival gangs of illegal miners in the area. Last weekend five illegal miners were shot and killed during one such battle. This resulted in the deployment of specialised police units to the area resulting in the arrest of some 200 suspected illegal miners. Cele says they want to make sure that illegal mining kingpins are brought to book.

I think the question of tribal and racial representation was dogged by minister B/Cele no one questioned the citizenship of the police employed in the police stations the question was of demographic representation to say the people from Limpopo are South Africans there for can be dominant in the employment space is incorrect yes they are South Africans but they are not the only South Africans who qualify to be police men or women he it is nepotism hiding under patriotism on of the weakness in African politics fare representation once one is empowered to recruit or employ he makes shore to over look other tribes in favor of his or her own why can’t that be addressed in all honesty and just hid behind a shallow argument of saying they are South Africans I disagree it is similar to cadre deployment but now it is family and tribal deployment let’s talk about it it’s real and it is wrong.
