Nice video! Curious, but what was the main railroad frequency you used (if any) when you were in downtown Nashville? I will be venturing there next month, looking to get the radio scanner ready so I can distinguish the trains I see.

Oh My goodness!! Nashville.. OMG!! Nashville.. Where should I start?? Nashville was once my biggest stomping ground!! Seriously, back in the 2000s, there was no city that I knew better than the Music City.. From where ya'll were shooting from the Demonbreun Street overpass is an area called "The Gulch." Directly behind you (I was praying that you would rotate the camera 180 degrees) is a relatively new condominium complex called "Velocity in the Gulch." That wasn't around when I started railfanning there.. Back then, that was all railroad owned property (Louisville & Nashville originally) and the Gulch was a small, sort of hipster type party district that was just making a name for itself as a "renaissance" spot in town.. As far as the railroad went.. This was right after the Conrail split so CSX had tons of colorful leased locomotives and foreign power parading through Nashville.. Seriously, one not familiar with whose tracks they were might think that CSX was intruding on its own railroad!! Besides the tracks that were there, that was all open dirt lot and I would camp out there all day when I came into town.. Then around 2007, CSX sold a lot of it and that's when the condos went up.. I still have pictures of them being constructed.. These days, you can't see the yard from ground level unless you live in one of those condos facing the tracks.. How does the saying go?? "Shoot it today, because you don't know if you're going to have it tomorrow." Well, I did, and I thank my lucky stars that I did because now it's gone.. Or at least off limits to outsiders.. The overpass furthest from where you are is Church Street and I used to park and sleep underneath there.. I can still remember how soothing the sounds of the locomotives were is they slowly moved past.. The one bad memory about that spot (and Nashville as a city) were the panhandlers.. Worse than any city in America that I've ever been in.. And I've been to most of them.. How, I learned about Kayne Avenue is also interesting.. Radnor Yard was the first place I staked out and while there a friendly yard switch engineer told me about Kayne Ave.. I remember what he said to this day.. "You don't wanna see a bunch of switch engines, go to Kayne Avenue, that's where the big, nice engines are." There are some things in life that you just don't forget.. And that engineer and what he said to me back in 2004 are some of those things.. The street to the left of you is 11th Avenue (which is why I could never understand how the yard got the name Kayne Ave. Interchange) and that spur track branching off used to cross 11th Ave and serviced a local newspaper (I think).. Judging by how shiny the track is, it's still in heavy use.. That's a good thing.. I drove up and down those streets many, many times back in the day.. Thanks for the memories!!
