The problem in Rivers State today, is police. The police knows what to do but they have got themselves involve in politics. Presently, d court has ruled against tenure elongation and d judgement has not been vacated. This is d judgement d police supposed to execute. Yes, it is being taken at Appeal Court but no judgement from court yet.

This former LGA chairman shows ignorance with the courts and the law. The law, he is referencing and claiming it gave him tenure extension, has been declared invalid by a High Court, and which High Courts have jurisdiction to entertain.

I think the Government of Rivers State should charge Samuel Nwanosike and his fellow chairmen who refused to vacate office with Treason. Their Tenure ended on the 17th of June and that clause by the Assembly to extend by 6 months was expunged by an order of court, so their is no basis for fighting (waging war) against the State Government.

With due respect you mentioned there years of constitution in the LGA my question to the former Chairman was he not aware that the duration of council chairman are for three years tenure? He knows fully well before accepting the opportunity of that office. However if the council chairman are not having problems right now with the current governor of Rivers state won't they enjoy their stay in office it's quite unfortunate but if you look at it critically all the people that who is fitting the current governor H.E Fubara they are all in support of the current Minister Wike of FTC

If the house of assembly want to extend the tenure of the local government chairman, it must take effect in the future, not the present chairman will enjoy such law. If they extend the tenure of the chairman, it means that they are extending the votes of the electorates. As much as they have power to extend the constitution of extension, the current chairman can’t be a beneficiary of the extension.

@lateefolaniyan-vn1kv, please don’t generalise it to a section of any region. This is purely for his personal interest/gain and has nothing to do with any race in our country Naija. This same person was appointed as a caretaker committee chairman and nothing was wrong then. Wike came in and sacked elected chairmen when he took office from Ameachi nothing was wrong by this lowlifes. Gov. Fubara allowed their tenure to run its full course and everyone of them hurled insults at him. Something they dare not do under Wike.
