Yet they still build on flood plains !a family member got flooded to around 5 ft through out the down stairs on Christmas eve a few years ago it still haunts them every Christmas since being flooded is no joke .

Sadly it is cheap land, build some cheap flood defences and move the problem down stream. Hope your family have not been too affected this year by the flooding.
