Riverside Bushcraft Adventure: Char Cloth Fire & Savoring the Perfect Steak

I wanted to try cooking steak over a campfire as I've never attempted it before. After a total filming bust the day before (forgot the SD card 🤦‍♀️), I ended up finding this beautiful spot beside a lovely river. Much of the snow has melted now, but there were still some frozen spots creating the most beautiful fractal geometry. I got the fire going with flint, steel and char cloth. The sound of water and fire together was SO soothing and mostly made up for how awkward it actually was to do all this on river rock haha. The steak turned out absolutely PERFECT and was so delicious! I probably only eat steak once every few years so this was a real treat.

OMG that steak looked delicious, well the whole meal did. What a beautiful location the sound of the water to relax you if the sound of the fire wasn't relaxing enough. Ive never tried a flint and steel fire , I have to get myself a flint and steel to do it ( that would help I guess lol).

Thank you! It really was so good. I don't eat steak often so it was extra special. I purchased that flint kit on Amazon...it was really reasonably priced! You should totally get one and give it a go. Thanks so much for the comment ❤️

This was great! Nice setting(by the creek), I could almost smell that steak & smoke!! What kind of grill plate was that??

Thank you! It was delicious. I'm not sure what grill it was. Was something lighter than my cast iron that's for sure. It worked really well but not sure how long it would hold up for in the future.

You always seem to make a fire in just the right spot on a beautiful stream. I can feel the warmth of that fire. Never seen anyone use wax paper to start a fire. Thanks for the tip. Meal looked great. Steak n mushrooms, Yum.😊

Hello Misty! Beutiful movie. It can be dangerus to take rocks from the river, they are ful of water. They can explode when ju heat them up whit the fire. Just a litle warning. Have a wonderful time in the nature 🏕⛰

Thank you! Yes this is a great thing to point out! I used rocks that were on the bank and not right from the water for this reason, but there’s always some risk 🤍
