Why can't all journalism be this good. Great questions to really get RJ to explain what his company is all about.

This interview by Ed Ludlow is good but not great. The question at 19:22 whether his hires made a difference was silly and unenlightening; is a CEO going to say "They didn't perform, I'm disappointed in my team"?

It was just ok. He asked the right questions but clearly when RJ pivoted around the answer or not even answering it, Ed just skipped to the next one like he had a to-do list he was desperately trying to get through.

Outstanding interviewer and, of course, an outstanding interviewee--such great questions, and such thoughtful, honest answers to those questions. I'd work for Mr. Scaringe in a heartbeat--he's inspiring and incredibly easy to root for, and I'll be putting in a deposit on a R2 when the time comes. Thank you for this!

Hearing a CEO as articulate, intelligent and yet so grounded is wonderful. Other CEO's (cough, Musk) might be bright, but they're just so disconnected and rambling. I want a CEO who's got a clear vision and drive to see it through, and I think RJ has that in spades. I'm proud to be both a stock holder and R1T owner.

Elon Musk is far more interesting and has far bigger goals: making a future that excites people, expanding the light of human consciousness, minimizing existential risks. Tesla alone has a Rivian-plus mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy; not only is it far more advanced in achieving that mission in terms of EV production then Rivian, not only is the scope of its effects bigger with related efforts in grid storage, virtual power plants, battery cell production, and solar roofs;, but it's also making speculative bets on autonomous driving, custom hardware for AI training, and robots. Scaringe is a good guy and Rivian has made an excellent initial set of vehicles, but there's really little comparison.
@ColinWatts
@ColinWatts 11 ай бұрын
@@skierpage see this is what I mean. I don't want a product CEO who "expands the light of human consciousness". Go pray on a mountain peak for that. I much prefer someone who is grounded in concrete, measurable goals to deliver a product that meets a need and aligns to a buyer's values. There's smart, then there's too smart, then there's "insulated from reality", and Musk has transcended all three. SpaceX was genius. But it thrives BECAUSE of Shotwell and in SPITE of Musk. There is nobody like Shotwell at Twitter and it shows.

@@skierpagemusk is a brilliant entrepreneur but is a deeply unwell individual. His own ego blinds him to the damage he does to his own companies. I’m a Rivian investor, and I love the company, but if musk was smarter he could’ve really strangled that company in the womb by going in a different direction from the cybertruck. It’s ugly and there’s no way in hell that I think it will sell as well as any of Rivians more attractive options (I don’t believe it will be substantially cheaper than the Rivian).
@skierpage
@skierpage 11 ай бұрын
@@zw6980 there are over 1.5 million Cybertruck reservations! It's a low-stakes commitment but that's far more people than have ever expressed interest in buying a Rivian truck. We'll see how good/compromised the production truck is, and actual demand will also depend on its relative pricing against other EV trucks. Cybertruck is clearly a passion project of Elon Musk and Franz von Holzhausen's superlative design team. It's great someone is willing to try something so different from boring pickup trucks.

@@skierpageThat maybe true but Tesla started selling it's cars in 2003 a whole 18 years before Rivian produced it's first car in 2021. Comparisons of multiples between the two only make sense when comparing production at the same stage of company development. The R1t is also a technically superior and more complex machine than the first Model 3s.(when will Tesla remodel that Model 3, it's beginning to look a bit long in the tooth). Rivian is also producing tens of thousands of vans for Amazon and will soon be able to start selling these worldwide as the Amazon order gets satisfied. There really is no point in comparing Rivian and Tesla.

@@skierpage I have no idea what you know and don't know. The video is about the FUTURE of Rivian. Where they are in that future has few benchmarks. You mentioned TESLA being more popular (more sales) so what? It's been around so long it MUST have higher sales. You cannot compare the two. In the context of the video TESLA can be a useful benchmark comparison but only if you compare where TESLA was at the same stage Rivian is now. That's my only point.
