I hope they survive. They are 15 years old and they still aren’t profitable. Tesla was profitable after 9 years without a supply chain. Let that sink in… RJ doesn’t have the leadership or business acumen to lead this company out of losing billions. He’s an engineer who over engineers and can’t remove complexity. It’s sad really…. Selling $120k trucks for $80k. Not a good business model. Keep in mind, Tesla nearly went bankrupt with the model 3. If RIVIAN can’t make money selling an $80k truck, HTF are the going to make a low margin car profitable? 😂

@@GET2222 this is a trash take, Rivian started the concept of the R1s in 2016, before that they were making a modular sports car then scrapped it because it wasn’t what people would have bought. R1s started delivering in 2020 …so not the same as teslas situation at all. Elon was also already a billionaire when Tesla was starting delivery’s. RJ came from the ground up, not a rich family. RJ had to find investors and sell the product to get backing. Idc what anyone says RJs a beast and Rivian is gonna be absolutely okay 🤷🏻‍♂️

RJ pivoted when he saw the success musk was having with TESLA and RJ greenwashed his way to investment. You mean you don’t even know Mainstreet Motors becomes Avery Motors becomes rebranded itself again as RIVIAN in 2011!!!??? Fine, have it your way then… RJs first two companies failed then and he started RIVIAN 13 years ago and is still unprofitable making any version of his EVs. The problem with the charger port location is trying to use them at Tesla superchargers that you back into, the cables are designed to reach the rear driver side, you will not be able to reach the rear passenger side with these charger orientation, and most superchargers have this orientation to them so it renders the supercharger network almost useless because the cable won’t reach the passenger side of the car

The only way Rivian will make it (and I'm a shareholder by the way) is for the game of pushing subscription-based services keeps it afloat. Which is totally frustrating .. I get in my Rivian R1T and ride in silence. I don't subscribe to Spotify, dumped that silly radio app they offered (which was free and then moved to a subscription model) and fumble my way through using my iPhone. So, I'm either listing to local radio like I did in the 80's in my Dodge D250 or ride in silence. It's crap.

No official word on that yet as far as I know. The R1 has some self driving capabilities so I assume the R2 will have that as an option at least.

Rivian's R2 gameplan is preposterous. The R2 is tentatively planned for Jun '26; which could mean Jun '28. Rivian is tracking to declare bankruptcy sometime in '24 or '25 at the latest; depending if Rivian can raise more funds or not. By selling the R1S for $90k, Rivian is losing $1.5 bill/qtr. By selling the slightly smaller R2 for $45k, Rivian's losses will probably double. In summary, very unlikely Rivian will ever sell even one R2. Very likely Rivian enters bankruptcy in '24 or '25 at the latest
