The new HVAC controls are great - the A/B preset is helpful, but the new heated/ventilated seat toggle is game changing.

Recently I got a flat tire and the general tire shop refused to touch it. Saying we need special lift pucks blah blah. The r1s doesn’t come with pucks. Is there a safe way/tutorial on how to get the tires changed without needing these special lift pucks? Also is there a proper setting to set when lifting the car to change one tire? Again when you pulled over in a random tire shop it’s not the time to research all the requirements when time is tight and the store is getting impatient. Thanks!!

Does the brake pedal use regen or when you press the brake pedal does it only actuate the calipers for friction brakes?

There’s an option in the settings to use friction breaks if your regen is low or battery is full

@@riviantrackr I probably didn't ask that question well, Im curious if when you are in low regen setting and you touch the brakes does the system give more regen first and then apply friction brakes once regen is done to bring you to complete stop or does the brake pedal instantly apply friction brakes. I am asking because on my lightning I do not use 1 pedal driving because the brake pedal actually does all the regen first and I can control it with pedal pressure and then the friction brakes only apply in emergency braking or at the very end to bring vehicle to complete stop.

10:29 I think there's only one camera, the fender "camera" I think is an ultrasonic sensor to let you know how close the side of your vehicle is to objects.

Thanks for the video. 👍 I may be old school but why is it so difficult to put something as basic as the odometer and trip meters on the main driver screen? I love my truck but they have a knack for not doing the most basic things in the beginning. Like automatically switching backup cameras when the tailgate is down and making what should be the toughest trim piece on the whole truck (tailgate protector) actually tough.

There is a mode in settings in the Driver + section that allows the car to change the back up camera when the tailgate is down. The mode is in a part called automatic cameras in Driver plus section

Yeah I had expected it to be this update, maybe only on gen 2 vehicles? Probably not because the displays on the gen 1 vehicles are good enough for the video quality

2024.11 was 4/15. Almost 2 and a half months ago! This is forever in Rivian update time

Exactly! Week 11 was mid March and we got it a month later They skipped week 15 Week 19 is first week of May and we got it 2 months later. Hopefully this is just because of the complete new refresh and wanting to align with the Gen 2 vehicle release Next question is how long do we wait till the update servers push it out to everyone since we don't all get it the same time.

FWIW, ride height has always been displayed on the binnacle cluster. One thing that has always annoyed me about that is that the all-purpose setting with auto-ride-height select will show the "high" bar as though it's an option, I'm very curious to know under what conditions auto-ride-height would ever actually select that option? I really wish there was an option to make the truck always return to high. oh well..

A video tutorial on how to properly get the car towed in a flat tire situation. Recently we had a flat and didn’t want to use the inflator and goop. AAA showed up and it was very time consuming, and challenging under a time crunch to research and follow any necessary tow instructions, what mode to set it to, what parking setting to set to etc.

I had the update waiting for me and it was asking for my key fob to be present. I went upstairs to get the key fob and….the update disappeared. I try resetting and nothing🤷🏻‍♂️

So jealous. Been following Rivian since day 1 but we can’t get it in the UK. Have to settle for hiring it when we go to Canada. Really bizarre though at the 9min mark, there’s a grey car right in front of you, closer than the one on the drive and it didn’t pick it up 😮

I wish Rivian would adjust the contrast setting on the blindspot cameras. Make the settings a little bit brighter, it would greatly help visibility. Overall great job Rivian. Just few more features needed to make it a complete vehicle, add texting on the infotainment and a internet browser (possible chrome browser, since they already have partnership with google).

The interaction with the 3D vehicle animation is laggy to be honest. I don't find myself enjoying moving it around. It just irritates me seeing the lag

My guess, the 8 hour delay for SW updates is a checksum verification on the code. Last thing Rivian wants to do is brick your vehicle because the downloaded code is missing a few bits.

1. Would be nice to have a microphone button next to keyboard inside the map search screen (yes I know I can use Alexa) 2. Would be nice to have an option to have gear guard start recording when horn is honked. Don't care for the animation of the stupid bear recording on his camcorder, would prefer something like the red eye animation like Tesla.

Installed it on mine yesterday. Have not looked into it in detail. Sure, some really good things, but cutting to the chase: somebody in the Rivian software department perhaps had too much free time and got carried away with this upgrade: 1. Rivian, I do not think I need to have the now forever message displayed on driver screen telling me what drive mode I am using. Burned in by now. Reaching out to main display, one click, I could have found that out. Do not need the reminder. 2. Each time I get in, new message on console: press brake pedal to start. Seriously, Rivian? You think that we needed a reminder on what all of us already know full well? What's next, Rivian, another message on display screen telling me to grab latch on door to open door also? 3. Ugly truly is on the eye. Those hideous, those nasty ugly new depictions of my R1S on the main display. So infantile looking, so very cartoonish looking, so ugly.

Thanks Jose. New UI is interesting but it doesn’t add needed new functionality. Blind spot is great. After waiting 2+ months, this update is a disappointment in terms of the quantity of much needed new features and functions, which is a recurring pattern this year.

Better HVAC controls, presets, launch mode, better UI, better front screen use, better maps, better search, blind spot cameras, KZfaq expansion, Tesla network, free adapters, Apple Music, ride improvements, all while building Gen 2 and R2/3. 🤦 Smh man some people will never be happy I guess.

@@IshTheEngineer I believe the poster is referring to what actually has been delivered and benefits current owners today. Many of the items you reference haven’t been released to Gen1 owners - launch control, KZfaq, Apple, etc. A new UI isn’t of much value without needed features behind it. The vent control A/B is nice but should have been part of improving driver profiles such as saving seat positions. In most cars, thats a simple press of a button, but with Rivian it’s cumbersome and requires a different account on the phone app to even have a second seat position. He did state he likes the blind spot. Many owners are buying third party adapters because the free ones are still months away. After 2+ years on the market, there as some gaping holes in Rivian’s software I’m surprised still exist. As an owner, I agree that while Rivian has made some nice improvements this year, their pace needs to get a lot better. has
