Being a guy, I feel every husband should stand for his wife like this. I have seen so many husbands who truly support their wives, loves them but when any elderly uncle or aunty says something wrong to the girl, they just stay quite and ask her to do the same. And later in the bedroom say sorry to her on their behalf. That doesn't make sense bro. you have defend your wife infront of them, right on their face. She has left her home which you didn't. But in general if we see, girls have some problem in changing their surname especially for working ladies, they can't change it from all of their documents and all. However changing or not changing the surname shouldn't be taken as a big deal in today's society.

If the roles were reversed nobody would even complain, these type of aunties or anybody else because he is a man, even if he had mental disorder he is still a man,that is enough for the society. But a girl is a burden, for her parents and after she is married she becomes a burden for the husband. Having said that, if a girl/wife ever have to defend her husband she would with all the might and love, she would against everyone for him, if she doesn't then she probably doesnt love him and that's a different topic altogether.
