Partition സമയത്തു പോയവർ വളരെ കുറച്ചേ ഉള്ളൂ. അതിന് മുമ്പ് മുഴുവൻ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ഇന്ത്യ ആയിരുന്നല്ലോ. അന്ന് മലയാളികൾ ഏറെ കുടിയേറിയ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ ആയിരുന്നു കരാച്ചിയും ബോംബെയും. അന്നത്തെ കാലത്ത് വലിയ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം ഒന്നും ഇല്ലാത്തത് കൊണ്ട് വിഭജന കാലത്ത് കറാച്ചിയിൽ കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്ന പലരും മടങ്ങിയില്ല. 1955 വരെ ട്രെയിനിൽ അങ്ങോട്ടും ഇങ്ങോട്ടും പോകാൻ തടസങ്ങൾ ഉണ്ടായുയരുന്നുമില്ല. എന്നാൽ 1955 ഓടെ നിയമം കർശനം ആകുകയും ആക്കാലത്തു കറാച്ചി യിൽ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നവർ അവിടുത്തുകാരും ആയി.. 6000 കുടുംബങ്ങൾ അങ്ങനെ ആയിരുന്നു എന്ന് കേട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്. അവരിൽ മിക്കവരും ഇപ്പോൾ മലയാളം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു അവിടുത്തെ ജീവിതത്തിൽ ലയിച്ചു.

That is because Sri Lankan Tamil is phonologically closer to Malayalam than Mainland Tamil. Mainland Tamils often mistake Malayalees for Sri Lankan Tamils.

@@Phil-o7iI know Jaffna Tamil slag ( Varum, pom , angalai, penthu ...) and Baticaloa Tamil slang and how it is similar to Kanniyakumari Tamil as well as Malayalam. Kerala had strong linguistic, cultural and historical influence in Sri Lanka before it separated from Tamil Nadu . I am not interested argue with people who suffer from Ego.
