My third welding project is another steel planter. This time I used 14 gauge mild steel because the supply shop was out of 12 gauge. 14 gauge worked just as well as the 12 gauge and was a little cheaper! Made with Harbor Freight's Titanium Easy-Flux 125 Welder and a Bauer 8 Amp 4-1/2 In. Angle Grinder. I'm not good at any of this but I am really enjoying the process! DIY fume extractor thanks to / timwelds !

Where did you get the steel cut? I am in the Austin area.

I cut my own these days but I got that cut (they actually used a brake) at Westbrook Metals

Been searching for a video on this for a few years now. What flux core wire did you use for welding on the corten?

I’m also in Central Texas. Did you get the corten at a metal supplier in the area or did you have to order it online?

I just bought a 4x8 sheet of 14 gauge steel and the sprayed it with apple cider vinegar/hydrogen peroxide/water combo and it rusts in like 3 days. For flux core I just use .30

@@caracarametal appreciate the response. I know stick welders have to use specific alloy electrodes when welding corten steel. Good to know that it doesn’t seem to matter with flux core wire
