The RNCM Children’s Opera is a multi-award-winning project by our Creative Engagement Team that aims to improve access to arts education in local primary schools while training the next generation of arts educators.
Led by professional composer Kate Pearson and with the support of over 100 RNCM student mentors, more than 140 children from schools across Greater Manchester come together each year to create and perform an hour-long mini opera from scratch.
Over the past 16 years, 2000 young people have taken part in the initiative, which helps them to develop their confidence, self-esteem and sense of belonging.
This year’s production was generously supported by The Granada Foundation and features pupils from:
