Watch what happened when a person got in caught in a strong rip current and was struggling to return to shore at Fistral beach, Cornwall.
Shortly before this incident, our lifeguards had carried out a mass rescue, involving 10 people who got into difficulty in the water. And days afterwards they helped eight lost children.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, lifeboat crews around the UK and Ireland are ready to launch to help those in need. Whether you're stuck on a sinking ship, cut off by a rapidly rising tide, or in the water and close to drowning, RNLI crew members will drop everything to come to your rescue. 95% of RNLI lifeboat crews and station staff are volunteers.
But it’s not just lifeboats. RNLI lifeguards patrol 248 beaches across the UK and Channel Islands, keeping people safe, providing safety advice and rescuing those in trouble. Education volunteers visit schools and swimming clubs to help teach the next generation how to enjoy the water safely. And volunteer fundraisers and shop workers give up their time to generate vital funds. The RNLI is also working to help communities around the world that are most at risk of drowning.
If you spot someone in trouble in the water, call 999 or 112 and ask for the coastguard.

Outstanding work. That guy has the listening skills of a waffle iron. Disregarded every instruction until repeated 2-3 times, and still did it wrong. SMH

I mean we are right next to his microphone, whereas the other guy isn't, his ears are probably full of seawater and the sound of waves is a disturbingly good sound muffler. If you'd even been in this situation, you know it's very hard to hear anything from either side. We even hear the guy being rescued say something, which I imagine is thank you, but it's unintelligible and he's even closer, yet I can't understand it.

@@Alex-cw3rz He wouldn't put up both hands. He tried to climb and ride the jetski! He tried to climb up the side of the sled. He tried to sit up on the sled. Guy has no common sense or listening skills whatsoever. It was outstanding work by the Lifeguard to save him.

@@Alex-cw3rz I heard you. The guy COULD hear. He could not listen or obey. He was told put up both his arms, he put up one. He was told to get on the sled, he tried to get on the jetski. He was told to climb up the back, he tried going over the side. Then when he was on, and out of the water, and able to hear, he was told to lie down, and disregarded the instructions. I responded to you. Your stupid claims aside, you are dead wrong. Are you this victim? Sure sounds like it from you defending his actions.
