This is actually modern western. You have that’s a hired gun he’s hired to by a saloon owner to clean up his saloon. Of course since we’re talking about westerns this hired gun is a legend so of course everyone’s heard of this guy but no one’s has ever seen him. He comes to town and finds out that it’s ran by a corrupt man who owns most of the town. This has western written all over it. I bet that’s how they pitched this to the actors. It’s a modern day western instead of calling it Saloon we calling it Road House.

It also extends the wilderness v. civilization theme to small town vs. McDonaldization. Instead of the railroad bringing settlements and laws to spoil the virgin West--which is the classical Western theme--it's a big-city developer bringing national chains to spoil the town's local character.

When I worked as a bouncer at a small club, I had a belligerent dude threaten to kick my ass. I told him let's take it outside (Thanks Dalton!). After he walked out, I told him to have a great evening and shut the glass door behind him. He spent about 15 seconds pounding on the glass before he turned around and walked away in embarrassment as the people smoking outside laughed at him.

1:00:38 Not only is his name Red. That's Red West. He was one of Elvis Presley's bodyguards and he got fired (along with two other bodyguards) for being vocal about Elvis needing help due to his drug problem. They wrote a book after being fired titled "Elvis: What Happened?" exposing what was going on with Elvis behind the scenes. Elvis died only weeks after it was released. People have apparently speculated whether the release of the book caused Elvis to go off the rails even more, leading to his death.

The faux-turtleneck/ crew neck thing Dalton where's is a "mock turtleneck" they were almost a thing in the 90's but you don't see them much at all these days. AS shirts mock turrtlenecks lack the warming insulation of full turtlenecks but still manage to look silly. Though I think Swayze and, in general, people with muscles could occasionally pull them off.

The late, great Patrick Swayze in this phenomenal piece of work from producer Joel Silver. After Dirty Dancing and before GHOST, Swayze trained with Martial Arts' legend, Benny "The Jet" Urquidez who also makes a cameo in the movie. Made as an modern-day Western with all the troupes you may know. Dalton was a philosopical bouncer. Knowing the nature of man and how to kick man's a^^. A lot of what he says is kinda true. Believe it or not, a lot of guys took his knowledge and used it. The late Ben Gazzara (Wesley), hot as hell Kelly Lynch (Doc) and Sam Elliott (Wade) are all on their A-game. The late Jeff Healey was a great recording artist. His band indeed recorded so many songs for the soundtrack. Of all the songs on the soundtrack that wasn't heard in the movie, "Angel Eyes" was a single and No.1 hit. There was a sequel in 2006 and it was ok. The remake was announced in 2014 and Rob Cohen (Dragonheart, xXx) was going to make it. Now that it's actually happening with Jake Gyllenhaal & director Doug Liman, I wish it was theatrical instead of a home release.

The dude name red that owns the parts shop was one of Elvis's bodyguards that wrote the book and broke Elvis's heart. Also, Patrick Swayze was a dancer. His mother was a dance teacher.

If you haven't seen it, I'd suggest Red Dawn next. Another classic Swayze role with an ensemble cast.

The 80s and 90s action movies are so good and different than modern movies. Some are just the perfect blend of different movies combined.

Yeah, he’s / was dancer. Thats why he’s functionally strong and moves so well. So I’m realizing as I finished this video now that I need to explain further. Patrick Swayze was brought up in ballet and I understand he had a lot of different physical skill experiences. I’m sure he was a martial artist already by the time he did this movie.

This is one of my favorite movies from the 80's mostly because of Patrick Swayze but also Jeff Healey who is the blind guitarist. He was and is one of my favorite guitarist after Eddie Van Halen.

I love that the main fight scene was full of roundhouse kicks and ended with the throat rip scene got a freak out and they said, “Roadhouse.” It’s the perfect tie-in to Peter Griffin being obsessed with “Roadhouse” that was referenced near the beginning of the reaction.
