Road Trip #479 - US-64/74 East - Ocoee River to Ocoee Dam #2 - Tennessee
We cover more of US-64 and 74 along the Ocoee River in Polk County, Tennessee. This highway is known as the Old Copper Road, part of the Southern Highroads Trail, and along the river, the Oconee Scenic Byway. We get a look at the Ocoee Dam #1.

when I lived in nearby Cleveland, we motorcycled this road quite often. Memories with my wife which will stay with me forever

That mountain on the right in the beginning was my grandfathers. Round Mountain or AKA Sugarloaf. My grandpa also helped with the dam, building the flume line, and the railroad there and coal for the power plant before the dam.

We drove this road on our way to Helen Ga. Very nice part of the country

That is not the Ocoee Lake, it is Parksville Lake. There use to a community there called Parksville and it was flooded by the TVA. And it wad named Parksville Lake.

Beautiful but dangerous! I can see why you were averaging 35 mph! That’s a mighty narrow road to carry two US routes! I know 74 is a recent add-on to 64 and signs for it are noticeably absent. Are you hoping to clinch US 74?

Walter Saul definitely not going to clinch 74 in this series. We were considering trying to get video of 64 from Memphis to Chattanooga in the future though.
