I took a day and went to look at this crew cab international 4300. It has all the right componets I need for an up coming project.

I have a palfinger crane like that but I can run mine from a belly pack (wireless remote) or manually at the valve bank also has a pull master Pl5 winch on it

needs and wants , you definitely hit the nail on the head with that definition . Great looking truck , like your ideas and vision , but also like the way you're flexible being able to add or modify plans as you get into the build . Now , please hurry up being needy , I wanna watch this build ...

i am with ya! lets get the needed crap done and over with so we can do some really cool stuff. every project looks and works out great in theory...add some reality and whala....a soup sandwich is made. i was just thinking about full polished stainless steel fenders for this rollback project for some extra shine.

This is going to be a cool truck. I'm glad to hear that you plan to keep it for your own use. Yes, Alcoas all around will look great, especially if you go to aluminum fuel tanks and truck boxes. I hope you will consider going to air ride in the back when you do the frame stretch. It is a much more comfortable ride. But you'd also have more drop for the roll-back to get an easy angle for loading. The knuckle boom will sell. Those things have a lot of capacity and work hard if they've been maintained. I hope your wet kit will work for the roll-back without any upgrades.

i just bought the air ride rear suspension for it an hour ago! i wanted to be able to dump the suspension to lower the load angle. polished aluminum wheels and tanks and hopefully polished stainless tool box doors. black out the rear windows. nice chrome stacks. l.e.d. lights..the pto will work....i have another direct mount pump for the rollback. if i do it the way i want....i will have to shine up all my pennies on this one!

Great. It will be fun to see the air ride come together. If/when you put a winch on the front, I'll sew a cover for you as a token of appreciation for the informative videos.

Simple covers and such. I learned to sew when I was a kid because my dad had a marine canvas shop. I recently purchased an industrial machine and am teaching myself the basics. I don't know if I will work up to upholstery.

i dont know if it is the same in your area..but around hear car upholstery shops are 6-8 months out on work because the demand is so high. i have been wanting to do an all out custom interior in one of these internationals. i got over the sticker shock of the prices i got. when i decided to commit and do it...they told me 8 months before they would start on it. the company i was going to go to was a husband and wife with 3 daughters and 2 son in laws that work there. good luck with it...we will see some videos of the projects you do?

What a sweet ride J.C. That crane is a show stopper for sure, very cool, I'm sure you'll find a buyer for that setup no problem... Like your thinking for the future of the truck once you have time to get into it. The mileage is amazing, you think it was a yard queen for some of it's life, no use of the wired remote and the condition of the body ?? Very wise buy in my opinion, much life left in it for your needs / wants...Lol 2 thumbs up from here !!

i dont need a rolllback but i have always wanted one....much like most of my trucks, i dont really need them. i could do with out them but what is the fun in that? i enjoy the transformation process. miles are great, body and frame are great...and look at those tires! virgins on the rears and not recaps! it was a good day when i brought this one home. this should be a really good video series on this one!

you have a fuel tank for the dump truck now, provided you put aluminum tanks on this one. what do they typically use a knuckle boom for? looks pretty hard to use for positioning something where control is a concern. looks like an ex railroad truck. I take it a rollback has a lot less hydraulics needs.
@j.c.smithprojects
@j.c.smithprojects 6 жыл бұрын
i already painted a fuel tank for the dump and put it on today. this was use to replace rails. there is a rack on the driver side up high. the rail would set in there and be picked up by the crane and set into place then lift the old rail back into the rack. good location for what they used it for....not so much for the rest of the world. that truck has an adjustable "gpm" the rollback i have requires a lower "gpm" than what is on the the truck now. that is an easy change.
@mikeduhm5754
@mikeduhm5754 6 жыл бұрын
would you change out the pump and tank? probably massive overkill with the RR truck setup. the older international fuel tanks seemed to be heavier gauge steel than the newer ones .
@j.c.smithprojects
@j.c.smithprojects 6 жыл бұрын
yes the pump and the tank will go with the crane. nice complete package for someone or one of my other trucks. i agree on the tanks...the older ones seem to be much heavier construction than the newer ones.

I'm glad you're open to building up one of your trucks with the utility bed and crane if need be. Have you ever thought of taking requests for specific build ups? Only you would decide to do any of them ever. A call for requests might toss up some good ideas. Just think on it.

ok..."just 1 more truck"....and the "just 1 more" i bought yesterday. in my area it is very difficult to find anyone that really wants to work and learn. the younger generation is even more difficult. the ones i know that have showed interest in trucks quickly became uninterested when the real work began. it is disappointing. i know the trades around here see the same problem.
@BobPegram
@BobPegram 6 жыл бұрын
Grrrrrr! Don't they know that the trades can be very lucrative if you're willing to work hard in the right place! My sister (in a rich area admittedly) recalls hearing that the plumber called in to work on some newly rich people's house was worth more than they were. You'd never know it from his truck and how he was dressed!

Everybody asked or said what I was going to say! The Railroad ought to make you a preferred buyer for it's trucks! The gas tank cabinets and extra seats were needed for crew to weld the rails together. The high weight capacity was for all those rails! It has low miles because it went out every so often on the rails to replace the bad ones Lots of starts and stops, keep an eye on the brakes.

I mean things that wear out from use (pads, shoes, rotors and drums). Is there any way to get the total hours on the engine? That might be a better way to assess wear and tear on it.
@j.c.smithprojects
@j.c.smithprojects 6 жыл бұрын
yes the instrument cluster has an hour reading. i look at that with the miles and try to figure how idle time there was a long with the driving. this one has fairly low hows with the mileage.

Love your truck !!! Im You Tubing because I just bought a 2000, 4700 International truck , single seat cab that used to belong to CSX, just cab and chassis. Mine has a 7.3, 5 speed Eaton with a 2 speed rear. Ratio in high is 4.56, mine has 8 lug wheels. It came with 245/19.5 wheels but I also got a set of 22.5 wheels with 8 lugs. I've been watching your vids for a while and I was wondering if you have a for sale or know where I can get an Eaton FSO 6406A transmission that would fit on the back of my 7.3 engine? Nothing wrong with my transmission, I just wanted to have the O/D when I'm empty. I also need it to have the brake drum on the back because I have "juice brakes", no air brakes. I have a 2017 GMC bed ( Its white, my truck is white too) to put on it or I could use a flat bed that I have sort of put together from parts that a dealer cut off of longer bed trucks when a buyer wanted to put a hitch on the back. I have a about 10' of frame so I could maybe put a small crane boom in between the cab and bed.

You sure do like to tease us and leave us wanting more. You have so many projects coming along that are going to be great. When you first showed us this I thought this is going to be a big boys toy with the crane. I then thought with the crane and the Gradall you are made and you then announce that the crane is going, would it not be useful to keep with the fleet? Great looking truck though and will look fantastic when you have given it your magic
@j.c.smithprojects
@j.c.smithprojects 6 жыл бұрын
sure wasnt trying to tease you. i was very excited to get this one! the crane cant do what the gradall, skid steer and forklift can. i was just sitting here thinking about putting that crane behind the cab of a truck and adding a winch to the top of the crane for a tow truck side puller. then put a rollback or wrecker bed behind it. however, i dont want to be in the tow business. at least not today....however i do have a rollback, a wrecker, the freightliner and semi with a low boy trailer .....the only thing missing is the sign out front and the massive insurance bill!
