That plastic cover is referred to a belly pan used to keep road grime and debris out of engine compartment and helps with aero dynamics but not having it will not hurt your car any. The screws are called torx if that helps. As always I am enjoying the content.

My daughter graduated from high school in May of 2012 and then we went to spend 2 weeks in Orlando. I was already a follower, and I said to her "Hey! Check out this guy on KZfaq!" The rest is history. What a ride, Adam! Thank you! Happy Anniversary!

Adam I believe you have a GEN 3 Ford Escape like I do. Those screws are torque screws. The cover is called a splash shield and it helps prevent road debris from entering your engine bay. Also it helps route air to your turbo to prevent seizing! You need to get a new one back on pronto and also replace all of the fasteners to assure a tight fit! Turbos are going for about $600 bucks for a new one without labor. If you ever have to replace it don't get a refurbished one, they wear out too fast. The new splash shield is $80 to $100 bucks or so. Happy 10th anniversary to you and the channel Adam!

Those covers under the car are called splash shields, and offer some level of protection for you engine components from dirt and road debris. Your car will function without it, but it could save you later on the road. It could be less that $50 depending on your car. You may pass my neck of the woods as you travel back to Florida. Shoot me an email if you want to stop by for an oil change, shield replacement, maybe even some unexpected interesting places / filming locations to see in the area.

That part is an engine splash shield. It helps keep road debris from entering your engine compartment and causing damage. It will keep water, snow, salt from corroding metal parts and wiring. They are relatively inexpensive, so id bite the bullet and get one installed. FYI, zip ties will often be used in lieu of screws to securely hold them in place. FYI, there are some great Youtibe channels by mechanics who I’m sure would love to collaborate with you on repairs. One is somewhat nearby your hometown in Celebration.

Congratulations, Adam! Not that long ago, my husband and I met you in Celebration when you showed us one of the two alligators probably waiting to be fed. That was before you received the many thousands pieces of mail, giving you much encouragement later that day. You could not have been nicer to us even though we were strangers.

Don't lose it yet, We need the Woo! We need to get our Woo on! Don't worry about what people say. There are always negative people out there. Take a couple of weeks relax maybe when you come back you go to Canada or something different. I watch you every morning while having my morning cup!

The under shield isn’t a make or break deal, as it is mostly for protecting the underside of the engine from dirt and small rocks and to help it be more aerodynamic for gas mileage reasons. It does help some with directing cooling to certain underparts of the vehicle (especially important on your vehicle is AWD).

Adam..you should lease a new camper van….would be a legitimate business expense for you to write off. Reliable, comfortable and no more hotels. When you are home, you can rent the van out on Turo or some other short term rental site. This would offset most of the cost, and likely provide you with additional income.

I'm 43 and a Big Fan! And Was very excited to hear you were coming to S.E. North Carolina / Myrtle Beach Area,, back in the winter time.(Jan./Feb.) You and Scott basically spent 2 days filming within 2 miles of our home in Wilmington NC. Scream locations and what not. If I was lucky enough to have run into you I would have bought you a Pipping Hot Caffeinated Beverage! Thank You for documenting various experiences. You brought back my love for Baseball its been years since I paid any attention, but I get excited to watch games and enjoy your perspective. (Braves Fan since early 90's) Also F%&k those quick oil change places! Valvoline Instant Oil Change cost me $3,200 when they broke the oil pan bolt off in the Oil pan in my New-ish truck. I filed a claim with corporate and everything It was denied because I took it to the dealership where it was purchased originally. I paid out of pocket for the repair. Valvo said it could have been fixed for like $500 at their preferred repair shop. I threatened small claims court they basically laughed it off and Hung-up the call. Long Story short Don't trust Valvoline Instant Oil Change. If you want a laugh check out the Review I left Valvoline on Google maps 17th street Location Wilmington, NC 28409. Needless to say it was a negative review.

It is a torque head screw . For the cover that you have a issue with. So get a torque bit set that will fit on a ratchet . GREAT VIDEO !!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on the 10 year anniversary! Quite the achievement! 🥳 Oh yeah... can't tell you how many times I've discovered a missing screw on the shields of my cars. Hell, went in for an oil change once and was told I was missing one (oddly enough I can pinpoint the last oil change I had prior to finding out it was missing was in Massachusetts). It happens and it is sad. Not an emergency but definitely get it fixed as it does provide protection to the engine as others have said. Think about it this way - much like a windshield takes a lot of damage from flying rocks on the road from cars in front of you, the same can happen under your car. That plate prevents those rocks from damaging the engine area.

Congratulations on 10 years! You have a great attitude and I like that you take everything with a grain of salt regardless of what comes your way. I had some Weird Al Jackson Park coffee while watching this today. I usually watch in the evenings and you always make me think of having a nice piping hot caffeinated beverage and it's too late in the evening to have one normally.

As a newcomer to your channel from the U.K. can I just say how much I value what you do. Many of us had career changes during Covid and I did too - yours predated that and many congratulations to you. Keep up the excellent work.

Oh Adam, you DO need that shield under your car! It helps with the aerodynamics (hence better gas mileage) and keeps stuff from the road from going up into the engine bay and damaging stuff in there. Those 'screws' are torque head screws. They've been using them in the auto industry for decades! You should carry around a small tool set at all times (~$50 on Amazon). Plus, have you checked that wheel bearing noise yet?

Adam, you really need to get the under panel replaced. It can and will cause damage to the car over time. Road debris can get thrown into the engine, you will find you will replace belts much more often. Over time water, salt, and other contaminants will erode the under side of the engines. Trust a voice of experience, get a new panel the cost will be worth it.
