This is a brief 30km leg from Sighetu Marmatiei to #Petrova, in the North of Romania, in the beautiful Maramures Region. This is Part 8 of the drive that started in #Bucuresti, the capital, with the aim to get an initial look at Maramures and the far North West of Romania, up on the border with Ukraine, and then head East through the national park areas and eventually back to Bucharest.

This part of the drive as with the last installment and the next one, are through some really beautiful country, up in the mountains and forest, through villages built in the unique style only found in the Maramures region. Certainly one of the best driving routes in Romania for scenery. Very different to Transalpina and #Transfagarasan, which are probably the two best known scenic driving routes in Romania, but I would rank it as a stretch of road well worth driving.
This stretch covers leaving Sighetu and climbing and weaving and descending through un-spoilt forest and a few small villages, ending as we were passing through a village called Petrova.
