On Di2 when you programme the top buttons on the shifters you can set up a quick press, a long press and a double press to do different things. It makes the two buttons able to cover six functions.

How about morse code or Html based button press program sequences then or time constant based press encriptions or codecs ? Then we will need self replacing batteries as well as self repairing or healing components ? This technology and Strava will both hit a development wall shortly .

SRAM AXS can also do compensation shifts at the rear when you shift the front derailleur... It's not only Shimano that has that setting. You can even tell it which cassette you have and you can set how many gears it shifts when compensation shifting...

Another advancement on the newer SRAM AXS D2 12 speed - especially for TriRigs, is that the Wireless blips can pair directly with the derailleurs so you can build a setup that is completely wireless and doesn’t require the Blip Box as well.

A programmer friend has cracked the Codec , now is working on a ground up package for my bicycle business that will work with Shimano XT equipment . It will be totally unique . More of us should have their own creations to disrupt the big companies .

2:54 I’m still using old style Tiagra shifters (paired with an even older Ultegra derailleur) which has little windows at the top of the shifters with a marker to show you what gear you’re in. Funny that this was removed as seemingly it’s not needed yet pros have added the info to their head units 😅

Why have you only included Shimano in the 'automatic' section? SRAM AXS has sequential shifting with compensation.

Would be great if you could review the new WheelTop EDS TX groupset 👍 It's so short-sighted of Shimano & SRAM that that artificially prevent their electronic groupsets from working with 10, 11 speed 😞

I'm a big proponent of Di2 syncro mode. Unfortunately the good stuff is only available with 12-speed Di2, unless you add a D-Fly component which then allows you to use the phone. That is built-in with the 12-speed version.

You can connect the older generation buttons direct to the battery if you want.

How about holding down the shift button and it will keep shifting? Many people i know are unaware.

The shifting speed only affects shift changes when holding the shifter button down. It doesn't affect single shifts.

Why are you repeating fields on your display page on the Garmin? You have two fields displaying the battery levels for the Di2 levels and main battery.

*di2 auxillary buttons only available on mid/high groupsets like ultegra/dura. Not available on 105…

An important bit of advice to anyone needing an iron - clad guarantee that a download for any kind of patch or update will have utmost integrity and reliability "SHOULD USE A LAND NETWORK CONNECTION" , when carrying out this procedure . This is what a proper bicycle service facility will always do . I always do it due to the phenomenon "BIT ERROR RATE ISSUES FROM POORER SIGNAL OR LOCAL INTERFERENCE" , when using a mobile phone for this purpose . Home appliances can also jeopardise this process . I have spoken with a broadcast engineer .

Something I still can't do on AXS that apparently Di2 owners can is change pages on their Garmin head unit. C'mon SRAM -- get it together!

I can change pages but it's really slow on my Garmin Edge. I usually press the hood buttons too many times when it doesn't change right away. Not sure if there is a way to speed up the page changes but would really appreciate it if there is.

The shift speed they mention in the video doesn’t actually change the shift speed. The speed of a single shift is always the same. This setting does not make the derailleur move any faster. What the setting DOES change is the interval (wait time) between multi-shifts. This also matches what was said in the video, something about changes to this setting being most noticeable when you shift through multiple gears at a time. (…bot surprising, since that is exactly what the setting does :)). As for why… well, having a shorter wait time between successive shifts could hurt the smoothness, yeah :)

I yet to understand why people say sram axs ... it's sram etap that is electric, the axs just means can modify it on a phone, so know I find it annoying as I own sram red etap (11 speed) and it seems electric to me

The eTap refers to the older generation (11-speed) as it has now been dropped from the names of the later groupsets

I was used to friction shifters, so all of this sounded really alien to me. But I could afford a bike with SRAM Rival AXS at a bargain price on a flash sale (for what you'd get only the groupset!). When I found out the groupset was electronic I was a bit worried and pictured myself being stranded with no battery charge in the middle of nowhere, or that I can crash and the rear mech would be fried instantly with no chance to be repaired. But after the first ride I was sold: it's true the shifting process is really, really smooth and quick - and being able to see in what gear you're on in your head unit is a great feature too. And the battery life is not as bad as I was told

"Slowly taking over the world... " only a small fraction of bike owners have eletronic shifting because of all thE thIngs you can upgrade for performance racing.. electronic shIftimg isnt near the top of the list.. and its very expensive.. a good set of carbon wheels would get you more bang for your buck. In fact, a good set of aero bars will get you a better time in racing for a fraction of the cost .
