The flexibility in player count can't be overstated. Get this game even if you're only ever going to play it alone. It should also be known that this game is *challenging*. Getting a high score in this game feels like a genuine accomplishment.

Nice review. Still my favourite game of all time. It's a tight design, limited options means to win you really need to think. Don't think Rosenberg ever made a better game. Hundreds of replays

@@BoardGameBollocks I've looked at videos of that, theme wise it really doesn't do it for me, same with stone age. Do you think this would be to much as a first game of this style?

Tbh yes mate it’s not complex but it’s more complex than others.The D&D theme isn’t really prevalent in Lords of Waterdeep, but the game itself is excellent. I’ve done a top 10 worker placement games video a while ago so maybe have a look at that. What sort of theme are you looking for?

@@BoardGameBollocks I'll definitely check that out. I don't really know I'm fairly open to suggestions, I'm a country boy at heart so the farming kinda clicks with me, I guess something close to nature maybe. Perhaps I'll give Lords of the water deep another look.

Pillars of the Earth is an excellent entry level WP game.

Definitely. I love agricola. Caverna is good, but agricola will always be the ultimate game for me

We've owned this game (current printing) for many years, own all the expansions and have upgraded all the components. Of the several hundred games we've played over some ten years, this game is a masterpiece.

Still love this game, and the cards are the key, although a random deal can indeed screw someone. Drafting is ideal, but as you say it takes time - potentially a LOT of time. A popular compromise is the “10-3” method: deal 10 per player, each discards 3. Takes much less time, yet provides at least some degree of control.
