For a first for this channel, this entire reaction process was live streamed to an audience on Twitch so everyone could see how I actually sit down to film these reactions. I let you guys choose the video you wanted to see, and today we check out the latest music video from Jinjer! In this reaction we talk about band members' gear, point out the correct way to pronounce Tatiana's name, talk about the new record, and also discuss why people think this band's music is TOO intricate (which I think is insane)...

I agree with you on the complexity is what makes these guys so unique. It's not just noise, it's purposeful intent. I like albums that require multiple listens, from classical, to jazz, to metal. Some do simple music to such a high degree you pick up on subtleties, some do complex interweaving lines. Then there are bands such as Jinjer that do both. The music would still be impressive if it were done acoustically, simply great writing.

I think what makes Jinjer stand out as much as they do is that their music is still very catchy whilst being highly intricate, thats a damned hard combination to pull off.

As someone who enjoys Jinjer a lot, I have to admin that I sometimes think the melodies are a bit too 'complex' or just feel random to me. That's why sometimes songs can really be same-y. But when they get the hook right (like this song) they are amazing!

I got into a discussion about this a couple of years ago on the Jinjer Fan Community Facebook page with several older prog-rockers like me from the 1970s. We were wondering why a bunch of us old guys were liking this metal band. We found from our discussion that we all grew up liking bands like Yes, Genesis, Rush, ELP, and jazz musicians like Al Dimeola and Weather Report. We recognized that we hear the same degree of musical complexity and innovation in Jinjer that attracted us to those musicians back then. We old prog-rockers know when we hear technical cutting-edge pioneers in music and it is obvious that Jinjer is a modern-day equivalent.

This new album is just a great showcase of how far Jinjer has grown. So much more technical, more complex, more intricate, and more versatile all of them have become. Jinjer isn't like anyone else, and that's the best thing about them. I also liked the Matrix reference in the video.

As an older metal head I have had a huge void in a band that I like everything they do. Last band I can say that about was probably Pantera. If anything good has come due to this pandemic it is the finding this band through my boredom. I was first drawn in by her vocal ability then the more I listened I came to love the complexity of the musicians. I am hard pressed to find a song of theirs that I don't like. Great breakdown on this reaction, thanks

Nice one. Stumbled over Jinjer during pandemic while being bored and they totally hooked me at once. Love the complexity and how they evolved over the years. Still love the old stuff, but the new album is pretty much a masterpiece and the videos are awesome. Had the chance to see them live in Mannheim on 30/09 and it was amazing, they’re even better live. So much power and energy while playing flawlessly. They really crashed my favorite band party within a few minutes.

Hello from New England..I commented months ago saying once touring starts up again and JINJER drops an album, they were going to go super nova af, and will carry the Metal flag thru the 2020's like PANTERA did in the 90's!!! Also, if they were an American band I feel Tatiana would have already gone solo..The band has such a tight bond thru cultural similarities and other factors. I think EUGENE is the CLIFF BURTON of this era...The chords, the tapping, his phrasing and note choice. LONG LIVE JINJER....PEACE FROM THE NORTHEAST...

When they played this live at the concert people went nuts. To me, it reaches down into my soul. I'm a HUGE Alice in Chains fan. Have been since I was 12 years old (Jesus Christ... 30 years ago!!! 😐) and it immediately gave me Grunge/AIC vibes with that opening riff. I'm a sucker for that. My friend and I would play AIC songs all the time (him on his guitar, me on my drum set) and to this day I can still bust out my AIC chops on both. In the end, I'm a simple man. I see Jinjer, I go click! 😉

I saw their show earlier this month and they are just so fucking clean. Tati was really up there hitting those high vocals man and with little effort. You're gonna love it because you get to hear all that technical shit in person and it was just clean. BTW Tati totally has groupies. I swear I kept getting stuck in groups of guys losing it that she was about to come on stave and how hot she was. Like metal dudes. Big burly bearded men fangirling her. Great show. I love Disclosure! Always love Jinjer and your reactions to them, can't wait! Things I read about this video: 1. It definitely refers to media and state narratives pushed, and it's about a particular interviewer that tried to paint Jinjer as unpatriotic. 2. The Russian and Ukrainian slang for police is "trash", so they take him (policeman representing the interviewer) to the dump. 3. It's really important when Tatiana shows her Ukrainian passport, like the band is saying to critics who call them unpatriotic, "yes, we're still Ukrainian even though we disagree about some things" (I'm with Jinjer: I think it's pretty horrifying that the US helped a Ukrainian neonazi militia to be incorporated into the Ukrainian military, our fascism begets fascism worldwide). There's a lot more detail in a great video by MetalGearShady: "Jinjer Disclosure! official video context / song background analysis / overview" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mLGTm9WU18XNkqc.html Thank you Tank! ❤🖤🤘

Sometimes they are a bit complicated but that's what makes them so distinctive. So for me personally they are one of the best matel bands ever. I had the distinct pleasure of finally seeing them live just days before this upload. It was amazing, and while I don’t have an excessive fondness for the new album, this song is definitely great, and when they started this one at the concert, I knew what it was and sang along as much as I could remember. And, just as a side note, at the show I saw, they did not play “Pisces”. It was a bit of a shock, but I didn’t mind…they played everything else you know, so…

Btw, a video prop fact (since I've kinda ended up researching this for a video about Disclosure music video anyway): the pistol used in the video is Ukrainian-made starting pistol imitating German Walther PPK's appearance which is unusual because in post-soviet countries law enforcement usually uses soviet PMs (which are based on Walther too, but ultimately a different pistol). Maybe it means nothing or maybe the use of a German gun (used by Nazi Germany's structures before and during WWII) is also symbolic - obviously there is no shortage in disabled or modified PMs to use in the videos.

Great channel. Thanks Tank. I love their recordings and videos. Truly amazing. For me, the "real" Jinjer is in the live vidoes. And i mean the very low fidelity crowd clips uploaded from a smartphone or whatever. Even thuough the quality is below par, these clips always capture the incredible power and energy of this Great Band. The stage is where this band developed and now this band Owns It. They are battle tested road warriors. Real musicians. Hard working, dedicated, relentless, fearless, motivated and committed to their wonderful and Superior Art. I love all kinds of music. But for me, right now, all other music makers must step aside. Jinjer has taken over. Thank goodness.

Both are completely fine as I have certain bands I love to find the details like with Jinjer but also i will listen to Country or Pop or some Rock and Metal that I just don't care about lyrics or what is doing this and that its just a good song.

I had lucky to be with you and whole chat on Twitch (not Tweeter). It was great fun. Reaction is perfect (as always).

As a drummer myself I can only say "thank you" for the appreciation of Vlad's drum work. Also, why am I not on your discord yet? You're a more common appearance in my daily routine than breakfast. I should get on to that.

Caught their show in Rochester. All 3 bands and crowd was great for a Thursday night show that was added only a month or so ago.

I saw them live the first of the month. They fucking killed it. Time to stop playing small venues and welcome in the huge arenas.

I saw a few reactors to that song, but I was waiting for you. All that matter is what you had to say...)))

Bro your reactions are by far the one of the best I've seen! Some others are lame. Man you're in for a treat when you see Jinger because I saw them October 27th at Ace of Spades in Sacramento and it was EPIC!! I'm always right up front and trying to keep from getting trampled lol

I feel like it might have been good for them to include a seizure warning at the start of the music video, considering the flashing lights towards the end. It might not have needed a warning depending on the particular flashes but it looked to me like it could have been an issue. Very heavy song, a bit heavy for my brain today but definitely something I'm going to like. Gear analysis on point as always, and live this time too. And a very interesting non-musical intro and outro to the music video. The BTS was a nice surprise at the end. I didn't expect that!

Went to my first Jinjer concert in late September and they were indeed amazing! Hope you have as great a concert as I had... well, minus the sore feet from standing up for several hours!

Hey Tank, I haven't seen one of your reaction videos for awhile and I for got what I was missing! 😆 As I'm sure you know, Tatiana wrote the lyrics for this song immediately after that infamous interview with the demeaning, passive-aggressive nationalist Ukrainian journalist, who was basically accusing them of being sympathetic to the Russian separatists in their homeland of Donetsk (Eastern Ukraine) because they hadn't made any overt political statements (that was a conscious decision to stay away from political BS) and they speak Russian.......and you can see the anger and passion in Tatiana's performance. I'm seeing them live at the House of Blues in Boston in one month and I'm psyched!
